NY/NJ shops
Where do guys in this area get work done on their cars? I read about auto-addiction but long island is a bit of a trek for me...
anyone know of shops in NJ that they have used? Shops that specialize in AMG and MB of course...

Just found something good in the NYC area "The Auto Addiction"... It was recommended by another performance shop, which I had some work done recently. I'll be talking to them real soon. The web site looks impressive, I was told they just do Mercedes, which I think is very good...

nothing major - im looking to get wheels done, 360 forged or HRE...i know I can do that anywhere but if i can get them local and get the tires and have them mounted all in one that would be great...
i also might want to drop the car with springs depending on what it will look like with 19's...i just want people who know what they are doing (especially with the amg's)

For wheels and tires yes George at Pro Performance is the man as far as fixing wheels - refinishing and anything custom - he also manufactures his own wheels now too - but bring the checkbook.

any more shops? most of these are in LI and i prefer not to go out there since I would have to wait out there for any work -
im only looking for 2 simple mods -
1.) smoking the tail lights
2.) installing a CF diffuser

Stay away from Route 46. Try Mobile Innovations/Star Motoring (www.starmotoring.com) in Englewood NJ. They are on Van Brunt St. off of Rt 4. 201 567 4050. Ask for Max. They really do amazing stuff. Right near Benzel Busch Mercedes also if your familiar with the area. Good luck.

Stay away from the crooks at Rayco, Action Tire is decent but they don't do a lot of performance related work.

I posted a thread looking for a tech in Northern NJ and got nothing on it. I assumed that was because this thread existed. So who do you guys like in the NYC area to do actual mechanical work. Brakes, service, performance upgrades ? I do all the work on my other cars myself never had a Merc before.

Im Jay from Auto Addiction. Other then the MB Dealers, nobody works on more Mercedes then us on Long Island. You can see from our website, youtube, facebook and small photo gallery on here.
We also have our own truck and trailer to do out of state pickups.
If the logistics are a problem, its really not a problem at all... We were just 3 hours upstate picking up a 55 for a RennTech job... and a few weeks ago we were in Montville picking up a SL55 for the same...
