When I bought it, I never thought I'd be using it to haul 8ft step ladders around. Still, it's nice to know that I can get a ladder somewhere really, really fast!

Maybe not the best description. It just looked so weird when I was heading out that I had to run back inside and get the camera. My wife just pointed out that it also showcases our classy RediBlinds that we have had on the windows for about 8 years.
Also, I remember another recent thread about driving around with the rear seats down to better hear the exhaust and speculation about what it would sound like with the trunk open. I want to confirm that it is pretty f -- n awesome to hear.

I did have to stop at the end of the street and strap some padding to the ladder legs so the edge of the lid wouldn't bang on the ladder. When I heard the first "whack!" I almost had to change my shorts. Not a scratch though.

LOL - hey every penny saved is a penny earned!
I'm probably going to switch out to some type of opaque/patterned window film soon. Sadly, the reason for upgrading right now is that all the dead bugs and spiderwebs that build up in the lower corners of the papershades get flicked around when it's windy. I don't care that much when I get hit with dead bugs, but they can't get on my "baby"! (the car, not an actual baby) How's that for twisted? Regular blinds would probably collect even more debris.
Strange times.

Whats the name of your sidejob??? "Speedy Handyman" Okay, gay joke, but I chuckled when I saw that, time to find a 1983 Ford F150 pick up, even if you drive it once a year, I couldnt do that.

It's complicated
but here goes:
1 - I had to help set up for my kids school performance later that day.
2 - They really needed my ladder.
3 - wife had the kids and car seats in the Yukon b/c she had to bring them to the performance that day and I was setting up and couldn't come back home before the show.
4 - I didn't want to switch the car seats to the C63 because my 3 year old likes to throw up when she's sick or nervous.
That pretty much sums it up I think. LOL!
Anyway, I just thought it was pretty cool that if you strapped everything down good and tight with some strategically placed padding and blankets, this seemingly totally impractical vehicle is actually very functional. You can haul stuff around while still whipping the snot out of 99.9% of the other cars on the road.
This turned into a bit of a runaway thread - sorry for that

We already know it's the fastest grocery getter, why can't it be the fastest ladder-getter? I can imagine a handyman saying, "oh, the best tool is my box is the one that gets me and the box to the customer "

I started the thread about driving with the rear seats folded down so you hear the exhaust symphony better but now after your experience with the boot open (and ladder) I'm going to try a short drive on a secluded road with the rear seats down and the boot open (without the ladder though).
Can't believe I'm able to offer tips on this subject - lol

I suggest sticking some sort of cushion between the trunk lid and the bumper and then strapping the the lid down fairly tightly on that so you don't get much bouncing of the lid as you drive. You'll only need about an inch gap to hear the exhaust fine.

The other day, I had to take my daughters bike to the bike shop for repair. My wife and her SUV was gone. The bike is cheap with no quick releases on the wheels and it wouldn't fit completely allowing the trunk to close. The bike shop was only 4 miles away, so I thought I'll just tie the trunk closed.
Well, given we are at a newer home, I didn't have any twine, only the cheapest and thinnest string in the world! I tied it down and took off driving really gently. The string stretched immediately and the trunk was bobbing up and down. In the end, everything worked out fine, but I'm sure it looked stupid and I won't do that again...

HA! You should come to the DFW Auto club meet this Saturday, make sure the ladder is still in the trunk. If you come, there could be 4 C63's......
