Could the C63 be a victim of its own success?

These are the same people who are making it possible for dealerships to refuse to negotiate on price for cars like Mercedes Benzes and BMWs. If you don't buy it, someone else will.

You know Mercedes has made a terrific car when they are swiping BMW M3 owners over.
I am actually hoping there'll be more C63 owners to be honest, there will be more feedback on mods and DIY and technical stuff.
I used to remember when I had a miata, I would wave to every other miata owner or give them a thumbs up and in return they would do the same. I know all the S2000 owners give a wave when they spot another one. Little things like these are what gives me a very good buzz because I know that besides from owning a great car, there is also a great community behind it. Hopfully the C63 community will have such effect in the future.

It's definitely your neck of the woods, Sebring! There must be a lot of intelligent, well-informed enthusiasts there. Here in SoCal, there are mainly poseurs who it seems either 1) "wouldn't dare" touch a C-class, AMG engineering and 6.2l V8 in a smaller package be damned. So they'll take their $65K and get an E-class that offers less performance and more perceived prestige at the same price point OR 2) They're really only after the badge, so they lease a 328i or C300 for $399/month. These buyers get a "high-end" car, without paying more than they would if they purchased a Camry. They couldn't see spending $65K for a C63, and the lease rates are almost triple so they can't do that either.
I've seen hundreds of new C300's and C350's (the world's largest Benz dealer is in the OC!) but only 3 or 4 C63's on my commute through SoCal over the last several months.
I don't expect the C63 to become common. I don't know what the production figures are, but going by experience... it is rare that I see a C55 or C32. I don't have a reason to think the C63's numbers will play out any differently.... unless you're in Vancouver!

There's certainly nothing wrong even if the number of C63s continues to proliferate. I'm just hoping that by the time it starts falling into the hands of the used-car buyer, that there'll be something suitably tempting to replace the C63 with.
It's a dilemma I'm going through with my S4 right now. The car is a great little sports sedan, and the all-wheel-drive makes it very practical. But the prices have come down significantly for pre-owned vehicles, and all sorts of people are buying them now that they're 50% less than what it was 3 years ago. The newer model doesn't have the V8 anymore, so I'm stuck in a position where I don't know what to do with the car.
What's there to buy out there? I think we're so spoiled now that it makes it even more difficult to move on to something else.

Don't worry about who's-driving-what. It may seem like a competition, but that is just your inner caveman talking.... going back to the days of carrying clubs and competing for females. We feel an inner need to differentiate ourselves from the pack. But cavemen didn't have to pay bills and plan for retirement. They just had to survive and reproduce! Still, that caveman brain takes over sometimes and the price of proving who's got the bigger/better club can be steep! (although this urge is great for capitalism, it might not be the best thing for an individual's bottom line)
When you see the cave-man in the lane next to you driving the same car, it's time to re-frame your game and compete on another level. With your superior driving skills, you will pummel him on the next on-ramp!
OK that was odd.

I've seen 2 or 3 driving in Los Angeles in about 5 months. 1 black in Encino, 1 palladium in Pasadena and another black one at the dealer, but may have been same one from before. I know they're are a lot more just based on this forum.
I have seen over 10-15 M3s though.

2009 C63 AMG Black on Black PP Package CF fully loaded
As I've said before, I live and work in the heart of NYC and the only cars I've come across have been many C300 C350's, I'm guessing lease ... I did see last summer a 2008 C63 but it had Florida plates... and one NY in the Hampton bays LI but thats it!!! I have seen other high end cars, Italians along with ZR1 Z06 911... I guess I won't be doing any waving anytime soon but that could be a good thing for me.

Plenty of W204 Cs here also. However, the C63 is still a rare sighting in Vegas. Looking forward to seeing all of the 63s when I go up in May. So if you see someone trying to race you in a rental Kia or Hyundai, it's just me!

Tell me about it.... *groan*
You should check out 663's new wheels in the Vancouver, BC Meet thread on the last page. They're pretty nice.

Just a few minutes ago I was on the streets of NY, I had seen a car almost identical to mine Black with bumps on the hood and at a glance I noticed the side AMG 63 emblem ... I actually ran up to it from the rear and guess what while it was driving away? To my surprise it was a E63 AMG lol, I thought I had seen my first NY C63 but Not yet... Talk about twins, wow it almost looked identical to mine tint and all.

09' C63 AMG
Yeah I’m in Miami too (Downtown, Coral Gables, and Coconut Grove AREA) and I have not seen many, maybe 2-3 at most... You would think you're going to see more down here especially with the nice weather and other nice exotics everywhere...
If I’m not mistaken isn’t the M3 cheaper than the C63?? I’m pretty sure it is, and I def seen more of those, both the coupe and sedan than C63's
I also think it is just harder or more time consuming to wait to purchase a C63 since I have not heard of many sitting on dealership grounds waiting to be bought...
