Need help with new tires rubbing guys
Hey guys,
I just got a new set of carbon fiber modular concept wheels and they look great. The tires are as follows:
Front: 255/35-19
Rear: 285/30-19
I heard 275 is the largest I can go in the rear, but I thought Nittos run a bit skinny...guess the new INVOs don't apply. What can I do to stop the running. I believe they are rubbing on the outside against the fender lip, but how do I confirm this? Will adding more camber to the rears help, or is that not gonna be significant enough?
The tire shop said they put some 275s on in the rear for no charge and change em out, but if I can keep the larger tires on the rear, I'd love to do that.
Any input would help. If you need pics, I can shoot some tomorrow. Thanks!

rub
your wheels are either built wrong with the wrong et or you have a really aggresive offset and Modular probably recomended a 275.
I have see many 285s on a c class with no problems

Hey guys,
I thought that all AMG cars had rolled fenders from the factory (I heard this from either a dealer or a wheel company a while ago). Is this not true? This car is a lease and I'd hate to do any body work on it. How hard is it to rol the fenders without causing any damage?
The wheels were custom built for the C63, and mod concepts has done a few now so I dont think offset is an issue. They told me that 275s would fit no problem, but I figured 285s were worth a shot since the NIttos were supposed to run skinny.
Please keep the advice coming guys...what else can I try before I resort to sticking 275s on there?
Ill shoot some pics tomorrow...

Evosport runs this:
HRE C97, 9x19 (f), 10x19 (r)Toyo Proxes T1-R, 255/35 (f), 285/30 (r)
Also has H&R coilovers
I want to run the exact same size (different tire brand and wheels but same specs) with KW v3 suspension.
I hear everyone saying 275 is the max on this car without rubbing, do they mean with the stock suspension? Maybe because they mostly put 275 on stock wheels? It drastically changes things when using a much wider wheel vs oversizing the tire itself.
Let me know if you have some details! thanks

Need help with some info. If I'm getting 10x19 for the rear, can I also fit 275 on the wheels? Would 285 would be the minimum for this width? Same question for my 9X19 255 width in front.
thanks!

thinking about it the company knows which car I have, I suppose they'll use the right offset so it doesn't rub, I'll confirm with them.

No, there was no mention of offsets...but if they are running a little aggressive..and I mean 47 or lower in the rear..with a 285.30...you will rub for sure...either on both sides or one side. I wouldn't roll fenders, but would either have them save a couple mm off back, or go with a different tire.

Evosport car has custom made fenders. Also, wide fenders from factor has nothing to do with what you do afterwards. I recommend you get your fenders rolled or change out to 275. Your offset is too aggressive.

For example..I am running a 20x9.5 in rear on a et51 with a 275x25x20 tire...I could have used a 285x25 in rear....But I am lowered and didn't want to risk the chance of rubbing.

I've read 275 fits (barely) for the rear on a stock mag with a 54mm offset. So technically a 64mm offset with 285 would not rub on the outside, but I don't know how much space there is on the inside. Would 10mm really make all that difference? On front wheel turning maybe but on the rear wheels?
I need to reconsider my wheel size if there simply no room on the inside.
thx

Thinking about it 245 (f) and 275 (r) is probably a better idea with a 9" wheel in the front and 10" in the back. In any case the tires will need a very low profile too, probably 35 in the front and 30 in the rear.
Final specs:
front: 9X19 245/19/35
rear: 10x19 275/19/30
What do you guys think?
thx
