its not really an h pipe more like open at the end of the resonator and flows out of the back .. the 2 pipes come from the rear cats then into the resonator then alittle more than half way back they flow open together then out the back towards mufflers

Just added my magnaflow X-pipe 2.5in and (2) stainless tube extensions in replace of the stock resonator. Definitely smoothed out the cars sound. There's more sound in the cabin in the 1500-2200 RPM where if I remember the car was almost quiet. No drone, but I need more miles on the highway. Its an euro refined v8 vs. the american gargling v8. It also has that farting effect in the 10 miles i drove it happened 2-3x.
The X-pipe really refines it, so it is def not quieter when your on it, just different. I guess it just depends on what your expectations and final goals are.
Stock Resonator = 12lbs
X-pipe + 2 SS Tube extensions = ~4-5lbs
So weight loss is 7-8lbs, not much but anything helps.
Car also seems quicker, maybe 5HP+ on the butt dyno or placebo effect? I think I'll dyno it. I'm still undecided if I'll keep it or go straight pipes maybe I'll end up liking the refined smooth sound better than the dirty dirty V8.
I'll try to post pics and maybe a video if I figure out how to. I wish I took a stock sound clip.
Wasn't that hard to take....

Sounds very similar to straight pipes, tho i believe with straight pipes it would pop a little more. Still sounds better than stock IMO

I beg to differ, I am running straight pipes on my e63 and was planning to do a magnaflow 3 inch x pipe. I think the sound is more refined that straight pipes
Only problem is my piping is 2.75 and magnaflow only makes 2.5 and 3 inch inlets
anybody know what size to use

X-pipe sounds much cleaner. I had straight pipes on my 55 first and loved how loud it was but couldn't stand the sound at iddle. Sounds like a tracter. Swapped it out for Magnaflow x-pipe and the sound is so much more refined.
Better fitting for a Mercedes. But I guess as long as one is happy.
