09 C63 steel grey
Here are the pieces of the side marker assembly - and I was wrong, my kit only came with the outer portion so I had to keep the inner piece that comes with the car. Notice the two 'hooks' on the bottom of the exterior piece and they greyish catch at the top. The middle pic shows the two pieces with the hooks latched into the two holes of the inner piece (it's taped together for the photo). The last pic is both pieces snapped together viewed from the back.

So I went to my local Advanced Auto Parts store today to buy some paint for a DIY project on my amber bulbs. But the paint was like $6 and the "stealth" bulbs on eBay are $10 shipped. So I left empty-handed... Out of curiosity though, I saw paint rated at 500 degrees and paint rated at 2000 degrees. Which one is appropriate for bulbs?

On the C63 you can access the side marker assembly from under the hood.
From inside the engine bay:
1) you twist out the bulb socket (and replace bulbs to amber if you want)
2) then depress the catch to disconnect the outer piece of the cover assembly from the inside shell - I removed both of these since the new set I ordered came with both pieces.
From both inside and outside:
3) then you have to line up the new outer cover with the inner shell and snap them together - this took me a while for some reason.
4) lastly put the bulb socket back in (edit)
That's it -took me about 10 minutes on the first side, less than 5 on the other.
Realize that the left and right assemblies are not interchangable (they are stereo isomers if you will)
It's a little tight, so I suppose if you have huge hands you may have to go from wheel well. I also don't recomend doing it while the engine is hot.

So far so good with my coat of paint. They look silver but flash amber. Hope the 500-degree stuff is rated high enough and I shouldn't have gone for the 2000-degree rated paint.

Just got my Evosport body color markers today - gotta say great quality and paint work. Im pretty sure its OEM but painted, but they shaved off the numbers that stick out on top -
Im just not a fan of clear or smoked side marker, personal preference. I dont mind that they stick out a bit, it just adds the the lumpy shell of the C63 (i was actually a bit disappointed the US cars did not come tiwh the extra flare on the rear wheel well as I liked those too)
Ill install them tomorrow and post up some pic. Tint in 2 weeks then wheels and Im done.

*shrug* just heard someone used them. There are electrical tape that can withstand 250+ degrees F.
