To, or not to??

I arrived to some serious decision: it's time to change my 2004 Jaguar XJ8...
I wrote in an other post, that I really am thinking of jumping into a C63, but I need you to brace me up!!

The other option is a new Audi A6 3.0TFSI with 290ps.

Two different cars, but I have to be sure. Almost, same price, same conditions on purchase. Why I am thinking???

1. I am tall. Almost 2 meters high. After the big Jag (s class size), I am a bit afraid of being uncomfortable in a 'two size smaller' car. Any tall guys on forums driving a C class?

2. Costs. I drive around 30k miles a year. Oil changes, brake jobs, tires, etc can be more expensive on the C63! How much are they? Anyone did break jobs?? How often needed?

3. There are Audis in the family, never had serious problems with them. I don't want to visit the service too much again, like I did with my Jaguar. And nobody had MBs in the family before, don't know what to expect... I am going to use the car for at least 3 years because of the terms of the purchase....

Otherwise I am only 27!!! I'll have time to drive a family car later... And that sound... WOW! A V6 Audi will never.....

Help me decide to listen to my heart (C63) or to my brain (A6)...

dude...when considering a car, always....always listen to your heart. every time i listened with my brain I experienced searing pain in my wallet (due to $$$ lost on trade-in).

since you seem to like audi, consider also an s5 if you have not already.

drive as many cars as you can at least twice. then follow heart.

you are asking in a MB forum, c63 sub forum, what do you expect the answers will be?

however, i think c63 will be too small for you being 2 meters tall, and it results uncomfort.

the new supercharged A6 looks mean and aggressive, im not sure if its the A6 you were talking about. if it is, i think it will be a better choice for you imo.

anyway, good luck

and are you serious that you drive 30miles per year? or is it a typo?

Well this is a dilemma!!! 2 really nice rides but if you can afford the cost of fuel I would go with the C63. Cost of gas is a big factor in Hungary. With the type of roads around town in Budapest expect to average 17-19 Ltr/100 Klm.

I am 1.90m and 100kg and the fit is perfect. you should be fine.

Cost of service isn't too crazy on the C63. Brake job (Front) on a standard C63 should be around $1000 CAD or Ft187,000.00. On a P30 equipped C63 your about $2100CAD or Ft400,000.00.

Get the C63 ....you won't regret it

Are you considering the A6 because you're going to be getting married and starting a family fairly soon? If those plans are imminent, avoid the hit you're going to take when trading in your potential future C63 AMG by simply buying the car you'll be driving for the longer term right now.

Get the A6 (if your choices really are only limited to these two cars).

If anything, I would think you'll have plenty of opportunity later on in life to drive sporty cars. 27 is an age when you need to think ahead a bit about what's around the corner in terms of financial responsibility.

Are you serious? If its the case, I think I'm gonna use downshift more often instead of brake.

It's of course 30k miles.... )
Yes I am talking about the A6. It has a new engine that is 3.0liter V6 turbo with 290 HP.

I am thinking about it, because in case I do not buy something special (AMG), than I'll go for something respectable. And as I said, Audis are working good in the family....

It's not about the cost of fuel. My Jaguar also has an average of 17 ltr/100km with the 4.2 V8. The extra costs is what I am afraid of. Breaks, more often and more expensive than on an A6 fro example. All of you said tires do not last long on AMGs.... etc.

So you think it will be comfortable? I'am 1.97m and 110kg. Of course I tried a C class and it was ok, but will it be when using every day??

P30 is the performance package???

You wrote down my thoughts. I am planning to marry my girlfriend in 2-3 years, so we'll have to move to a bigger flat, maybe starting some new investments and , etc.... It would be good if I didn't have to worry about spending much money on the car.

I would go with a A6. C63 is small, the C class doesn't offer that much room on the interior as for maintaing the car MB prolly has better service but higher costs. Audi is a great car if you plan to have a family and stuff and don't wanna buy new tires every 2 months.

What else could I get with these terms, in case I am only thinking about Audi, BMW or Mercedes???

Conditions:
Max 1,5 years old. (lease term)
Max 20k kms in the odometer. (lease term)
Max 60k EUR price.
Has to be automatic (I usually drive in the city traffic)
And I'd love to have at least around 300PS, like I had in my Jaguar....

Sclass, 7er and A8 cannot be fitted to my conditions.
In case 5er, E class or A6, I'd go for the A6.
M3, S4/S5 or C63, than I'd go for the C63.
Don't want a SUV... So the list is over....

I'm 34 and I bought the C63 as more of a family car! Coming from mostly 2 door sports cars, the C63 was more practical for me. I would think it would be a perfect transition car into a new family. Baby seats fit great in the back and the trunk is plenty big to fit even my wife's bugaboo. Trust me, in a few years you'll know what a bugaboo is if you don't already.

I'm 6'/200lbs and the car suits me just fine.

With kids, its not a great long distance car, so then you get the wife an Audi Q5/Q7. The C63 has no rear seat entertainment for my little girl, but she loves the exhaust note. I ask her what Daddy's car says, and she replies "vroom, vroom."

sorry man. the a6 is creepy and does nothing for me. if you're seriously considering the a6, get a fully loaded accord and save some dough.

i'm all for discussing non-C63 cars in this forum (i think the CTS-V thread somehow became the most popular). But please, kindly, refrain posting anymore A6 pics. R8's, S5's, RS4's...maybe even the TT are welcome in my book. i'm of course kidding (somewhat).

from your prior posts, sounds like you're an a6 man. go for it.

Get a C63 Wagon since you are in Europe.
But seriously, if your choice is between A6 with 290hp and a C63 with 457hp(euro spec) I don't think that you are ready for the C63. Give it some time, maybe you will get promoted and buy a brand new 63 as a second car?
You will definetly spend more money on AMG service then Audi.
I don't think that family car history can give you help with choice. You can have 3 cars of the same brand and model and they all will be different in terms of service. Some brake some don't. Don't forget there can always be a rotten apple.

I actually just switched from a 2001 A6 2.7T (250hp) to 2009 C63 (no PP). If you need/want interior roominess (and at 2 meters tall you do) you will notice the lack of it in the C63 every time you get in it. I'm short so it doesn't bother me, but it still took me a few weeks to get used to getting in and out of the C63 especially with the monster side bolsters. It's funny watching valets getting in the car at restaurants.

On the other hand, if you have the need for speed, you may just keep the front seat all the way back and reclined - then you'll just overlook the lack of interior space. I think it's mostly the getting in and out that would be a big problem - once you're in and have the seat/wheel/mirrors where you want them you I feel like it's a comfortable interior and besides when you start up the engine and drive you forget about everything else.

you may want to consider ordering a car w/out a sunroof as that will usually free up a little headroom

that's very cute of your daughter. I am pretty sure Mazda would want that response in their commercial, lol
