Radar Detector
I was never a believer of this device but I think I need one now that my car is broken in. I cant resist the urge
What's the best brand and model? I always hear Valentine1. Is that really the best?

Is there any option to have a radar detector hidden? They are not welcome by Canadian laws.
Is anyone tried Beltronics STi?

After looking in to radar detectors for a while, i have found out that only
British Columbia, Saskat , Alberta are the only legal 3 states that you can use a Radar detector
I have been using the Valentine One for a while now
i got to admit, tons of false alarm , but better than sorry
I love it
i even use it on my ML =P

Go to Radar Roy's website. He says the Escort 9500xi is the best on the market.

I have only had the 8500...it is great for where I live. Have never had the V1. I don't think you can go wrong with either. If it is not legal where you live, and you still want one, the Bell STi Driver is the only one that is "shielded" from radar detector "detectors".

In all my other cars I've hardwired by using the "add a fuse" adapter, but the fuse panel is in the trunk. So i was just lazy. Besides, I never use that accessory plug anyway.
There is no full-proof detector out there. The V1 does a great job at eliminating a lot of threats, but it does have a lot of false alarms. The laser portion is only good at detecting laser cruise control systems on Lexus and Infiniti, or just telling you got gunned by a laser and to pull over. Borderline worthless. i get too many "J" alarms which sound off as Ka initially, so I end up slamming on my brakes, just to get a junk alarm. But my local 5.0 use a lot of the always on K band, so it detects them miles away.
But its easily saved me the 400 bucks I paid for it. That's about all I'll pay for a system especially since I've only gotten two tickets in my life and I'm 34. Now I'm sure I'll get on on the way to work tomororw.

Yea the V1 saved me a lotta tickets for the round trip to Vegas. Money well spent now I have mine wired from the glove box all the way around up the pillar and up the roof and through the rear view mirror...you literally see no wires at all.

I have always used the V1. Just ordered the V1 interface from Midcity Engineering. It looks like a great idea from pictures on thier website.
By the way, I think you can find a "remote" enclosure for the V1 on the Valentine website. I may try that next.

I decided go ahead with Beltronics STi-r. The most important feature is that it is undetectable and hidden from view, which is important in Ontario. From reviews I found that it has less false alerts compare to V1.
Is anyone installed it?

My personal likes of the 9500iX are: elimination of false alerts, Weekly updates on Speed traps, weekly updates on Speed cameras, and best of all, weekly updates of "Red Light Cameras".
Good luck!!
