Do you REALLY "Drive" your car?

So, its funny how many people buy cars and are afraid or don't drive them. So, just want to see where everyone's at with mileage. For me, when I buy a car, I'm driving it. I have another car that I can drive, but that turned out to be boring. I can't see the point of buying an expensive car for it to sit in the garage for the weekends. To me, people that buy Ferrari's and Lambo's, only to drive them 1,500 miles a year are nuts. I'd drive one as a daily driver. LOL

My stats:

Delivery, Feb 20, 2009. As of today, 5,683 miles.

Delivery: Sept 26, 2008. Mileage as of April 17: 14,795.

Does that count? Also, I did my break-in miles in 3 days.

I save the long boring rainy commutes for my dd. It makes me appreciate the C63 more everytime I get in it. Although I do agree cars are meant to be driven. Delivery May 2008/4,600 mi. It will see more use now that the nice weather is here.

Careful what you wish for. When I said that my next commute was 1200 miles one way!

500 miles today - 2.5 weeks (and I dont drive it to work). I do happen to find the longest routes to get places though.

As for whether or not I "drive" this car like its meant to be driven is yet to be seen. I feel like I really need to get used to the power of it before Im comfortable really slamming the throttle down. (ESP off will probably never happen for me)

Glad to hear that...I thought I was the only one taking different and longer routes just to have more time in the beast. Always feel kinda silly doing it but not enough to stop....

Basically, what anyone does with their car is their business. Maybe to some of us buying an expensive car firstly ma not be that expensive to them and secondly maybe we want to keep them pristine as long as possible. No need to call us crazy!

C63 AMG P30 + OE Tuning
Deliver: Nov08
Mileage: 13000 km

On that note, there are people who really love their car in such a way that they would really look after it and take it out only in the weekends and weeknights.. which is fair enough.. but hey, after driving it on a daily basis since nov 08, i'm getting a toyota hilux next week so i can commute weekdays and then go for training straight after work since i wanna ensure that i don't spoil my leather with my sweat and all the sand from the pitch, but that's just me

Bah, I'm just as **** about the car as the other guy. I've detailed it with the porter cable 3 times now, and the car gets washed by hand 3 times a week. However, I think its nutty to buy a car, and pay that payment, to not enjoy it as much as possible. I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma for a daily driver, however its been driven only once since I got my C63 and that was to go rent movies. LOL I don't see the point of paying $1K+ a month if your financing it if you aren't going to drive it, or spending $70K on a car that is a garage queen.

Hell, I was reading the last tire thread laughing because at my current pace, I"ll need a new set of rear tires EVERY MONTH or every 5 weeks. Guess I better make friends with the guys at the local tire shop. LOL

In respects to cost, *****ing about tires, service, etc., is something that should have been thought out prior to actually buying the car. Don't know why you'd buy a $70K car if you can't afford the gas, maintenance, and tires. LOL

Nope, but my suits don't cost $70K though either. I have a ton of suits, ties, etc. But if I did buy a suit, a watch, or anything that cost as much as this car, yes I"d wear it every day. My watch cost me $27K, and I wear it every single day, and the only time it comes off is bed time or if I know I'll destroy it doing something. Didn't spend $27K on a watch to worry about wear and tear from actually wearing it.

71 miles to work each way, and every day is an F1 race for me Not to mention going out, etc. Downtown Atlanta is 45 miles for me each way, so there's another 100+ miles on the weekends each day. I drive my car, don't worry about tires, gas, mileage, wear and tear. Hell, I know where the apex is of every turn on my daily commute

I keep it clean, not a single swirl in the paint from all the washing. Car still looks as new if not newer than delivery.

Not really, but I do find myself passing other cars slower than me just so I can get infront of them to take full advantage of the next turn coming up and make the turn "correctly" at speed. I have my daily route mapped out as "turn 1, turn 2, etc."

I met a guy with an 08' F430 the other day. He bought it new almost 2 years ago, and the car only has 540 miles on it. I was like WTF man, drive it. I'd drive the damn thing to work every day and every where I go. He was worried about the 3,000 mile, $3200.00 service and I was like: "Dude, you bought a $250K car, and you can't afford the $3,200 service to actually drive it?" He was like well, I can afford it, but I think its stupid. I'm like uhm.... After talking with a friend at the local dealer, he was like yeah we get a lot of those guys. Then he told me that the most expensive service is a clutch for about $5K, and you only need those based on driving habits or 12K miles. When your car payment is almost $5K for one of those things, you'd think that you'd have a spare $5K laying around to enjoy it. This incident is what prompted this thread. lol

My fiancee and I have been logging some good miles on our 3 day old c63. Can't wait till I hit 1000 miles. Right now we're average 12mpg in city driving, can't imagine how many mpg I'll get when I break it in :o My foot have been feeling heavy lately, but i must resist.
