Who has removed the resonator(s), what are your thoughts on it? Any performance gain or just more exhaust noise?

Both sets of cats and the resonator? Do you have a video clip by any chance? I'd love to hear it as a baseline.

Did you your car throw a CEL? (Do you have a stock tune or aftermarket?)

Thanks!

don't take off all 4 cats.
I took off my 2nd set of cats and resonator. And it's loud I'll make some clips tonight in and outside the car.
If I were to advise anyone to take off anything it would be just the 2nd cats. Leave the resonator in

+1 Huge difference in sound with secondary cat delete...more than the gain from headers but still mild at idle or constant speed

But wowza, I don't know if that sound is a good thing or a bad thing. I mean, it sounds all and "bat out of hell" and whatnot, but on a C63, I don't know if that's what I would like. Throaty though, that's for sure.

Maybe if you say that your C was a track car, you know, with no back seats and a full rollcage, I'd like it a bit more.

I just did the secondry cats on my Black Series and it's at least twice as loud at WOT and above 4000 revs. Same sound/tone, just louder and it barks, crackles and pops more. I like it and am happy with it, but I think doing the secondary cats an leaving the resonators is the way to go.

Thanks for posting the sound clip. Good clean sound.
I agree with crazjayz. The sound is like a DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) race car. I like it alot, but it sounds like it belongs on the track.

I like it. Thanks for posting.

Sounds like consensus is to leave the resonator. Does anyone make a bolt-in pipe? (or would it always require cutting/welding?)

Seems like that would be a good seller.

So just the removal of the secondary cats isn't toooo loud with the resonator in??

Im just looking for a bit more rumble.

removing the secondary cat should give a slight HP increase should it not? More exhaust flow..

Well I know MNL_ICE took the resonator off and it noticeably louder already.

To be honest you don't need it to be louder than it is, unless you want cops and others to really hear you better. Everytime I got pulled over in my STOCK C63 the cops have said "I heard you go by!" and the last one said, "Keep In Mind Your Car Is Loud."

It's your choice but I wouldn't advise making it louder, however put in M, turn your audio off, open the windows, and drive that beast on an open road! You will see that its loud enough.....lol

All The Best!

+1 i dont know i though i would pick up some hp by taking off 2nd cats and resonatos but its 2 loud so now i will put them back when i do my header. the headers delete the primery cats as it is so i have to put them back. but dont know how much louder it will be. i think it wont be that loud. will seee .
