What will the next C-class AMG engine be?
Add a few blueHybrids and they would be close.
I know they could just bring the A-class over but that car would directly cannibalize smart sales.
Catch 22.
I would certainly want to own a C35 AMG at 3,200 lbs with 400hp that got 27mpg on the hwy. It might not be faster than a C63 at the drag strip but on a race track it should smoke it and would be faster in a straight line then the C32 and C55.
Plus a Modded C63 would beat the V6 TT IMO anyway... You can even put a supercharger or TT on your C63

small engine F/I is the way to go, and im pretty sure Mercedes will come up with something light weighted, small engine TT yields 400+hp. the next c generation amg with a new exterior design and nicer interior, and IF it performs better than the current c63(which will most likely happen), im pretty sure 99% of us will dump our c63 and either get the next v6tt version or its competitors.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I would def have to disagree with your statement... How can you say 99% would dump our beast V8 for the V6TT??? Where do you even get a statistic like that... basically you pulled that one outa ur A$$... Even if I were to switch cars in 4-5 years, I would NOT get the V6TT version, I would move on to bigger and better things... I will always want a V8 or bigger (Unless its a Porsche Turbo, GT3, GT2) So maybe you should think twice before posting a ridiculous claim like the one above...

if you have been following the news, you will HAVE to buy a F/I car in a few years to achieve 35+mpg standard.
I hear the same **** on the BMW boards about how M should not be F/I and should remain high revving lower displacement engines with lots of power. The next inline 6 from BMW will not be a TT. It is a single turbo with a twin scrolls. Hate to say it, but F/I is the future for using the Loop hole for decent mileage according to the EPA. We all know that as soon as you go into boost, bye bye gas.
I have no idea what will be in the next C class AMG, but I can't wait until I get my car in October! haha
And there are ways of achieving the 35mpg with a V8 one example will be DI... not to mentions many other ideas that some manufacturers are playing with, so if you think there will not be ANY V8's anymore than you must think again...
Holden, specifically Holden Special Vehicles HSV (Holden is a subsidiary of GM) have grown there V8's (Chev based) up to a whopping .... wait for it ....6.2l !!! pushing out 317kW & 550Nm. This is held up as our premium high performance locally built effort UNTIL they built the W427 (200 only), 7.0l V8 (375kW & 640Nm). Petrol heads go ape $hlt over this big bore bad boy and have always over any large V8, e.g. Ford GTHO, Monaro GTS, Charger. While the likes of HSV, AMG, etc (and I didn't think I'd use both of these companies in the same sentence) can, they will build big high performance V8's, all be it with smarter technology like DI, cylinder shutdown, regenerative braking systems, etc.
A quick note on the sound, I had a Maloo ute pull up beside me at set of lights last weekend and wanted to know who in Brisbane had put the exhaust system on the car, he couldn't believe that that was the factory effort - love it!

Overall, I think all of this is getting pretty overblown on the car forums at present - manufacturers will adapt, engineering and efficiency will improve, and we'll still have highly enjoyable performance vehicles to choose from as long as there's a profitable market for the manufacturers to deliver that niche.
