New vs Old AMG Logo
I am posting this in the C63 forum since it seems to be the most active AMG section.
Mercedes-AMG recently updated the AMG logo. I like the new look, but the classic AMG logo was fine the way it was.
Check out the picture comparison and vote in the poll.

Here are the details from AMG
AMG Private Lounge Members,
As many of you have noticed, Mercedes-AMG has re-designed the AMG logo.
In an exciting move, AMG is now being recognized as the fourth brand within the Mercedes-Benz cars group, right beside Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and smart. With this new positioning, we have created a new brand identity. The new brand identity of AMG is confident, sovereign and also it´s a perfect consensus between integration and differentiation within Mercedes Benz Cars.
The new brand identity is characterized by a pure look, valuable brand appearance and appealing headlines. This way AMG achieves a high attention and brand awareness.
In this context the "white space" plays a vital role. In order to focus all attention on our product, it is presented in a white environment. Clear focus on the essential. Without distraction.
This maximum product staging is combined with striking communication. With the choice of Corpo A as font, Mercedes-Benz is always visualized and we achieve maximum recognition. Furthermore we have adapted the AMG logo slightly: the new "A" closes the visual gap and makes the logo more emblematic. This will strengthen the visual brand identity.
The interaction of the three elements product = emotion, communication = typography and white = space gives our brand its independent, concise and unique character. Exactly what distinguishes any of our vehicles.
Warmest Regards,
AMG Information

I'd like to see it on a badge before I render a final verdict. But my initial impression is that I think the new one works a little better but not a big deal one way or the other.
Sounds like a marketing firm just made $250,000 off of the letter A.

the new 2010 C63 AMG model doesn't have the new logo in place. The S63 and S65 AMG does. I'm forecasting that the 2011 C63 AMG and the other AMGs will put in place a new logo. I'm pretty sure these models will also get LED fog lights.

Take a closer look at the "A" from the old logo and compare with the new one. In the new logo, the letters are spaced closer together with the right side of the "A" lined up with the "M".
Yeah, not much of a difference. The old logo was fine the way it was though. I'm sure AMG spent a lot of money to re-do all of their future logos and branding.

i could care less which way they do it. concentrate more on getting ipod connectors correct and all that other good stuff. dont leave off options that foreign buyers get. thats more important to me.

You're the "foreign" buyer...
Insufficient iPod connectors are your main issue? Wow, I hope there are enough cup holders in the car for you?
Personally, I'd like to be able to opt out of some of the mandatory luxury items here in the States - like the bleeping sunroofs for example. Don't want it.
About "missing" performance options - thank our politicians and their bureaucrat henchmen for that. Don't vote for them next time.

Why not add a monkey and change the slogan to "This car that will make you go bananas!"
I do find the new logo nicer and I wish it will be on my 2010 C63 (but probably won't) =)

Ahem, the "domestic" AMG buyers are all in Germany...

i meant foreign from where im at. i know domestic is germany. but thanks for the heads up. ha ha
im just saying i think AMG/Merc has a great package already (obviously i think this because i bought one!) but if they wanted to concentrated on things maybe they should look at other things besides a freaking "A" in their logo. just my opinion. some like the new one i could care less.
oh and yea an extra cup holder would be nice. JUST KIDDING!
