C63's true top speed
I was wondering...is the raised speed limit of the cars with the Performance Package still a "limited" top speed? Or is 174 mph really the fastest speed this car can go factoring in horsepower, drag, and gearing?

def not 174mph, even though i havent driven pass 150mph on the track. i guess the top speed of our car ranges from 190-210, dont flame me, its just my assumption.

I know that in modded form, the sky's the limit, but what is the theoretical top speed of the car in stock form with any and all forms of factory-installed speed limiting removed?

In mine?
I've taken it as fast as it would go. I saw an indicated 260 km/h which is equivalent to 161 mph. But since I don't have the Performance Package on my car, it should be regulated to 155 mph, which is why I'm questioning the accuracy of the speedometer reading.
Still, a variance of 5 mph at those velocities isn't that bad, I suppose.

Not sure about the entire MB range, but one suspects that in the case of the Performance Package vs. non-Performance Package cars, the inclusion of a regulated 155 mph limit smells more of marketing than any safety-related issue. Oh well...

I think it has to do more with the piggies chasing you then killing yourself.
I had mine to 265km/h and she had more in her, but ran out of road. Performance package.

I compared my speedometer to my Garmin Nuvi GPS and the car was 1 mph optimistic.... C63 indicated 86, Garmin said 85. The 1 mph variance was consistent up to 85mph. That's pretty accurate in my experience.... BMW, Porsche and Lotus all read high by 5 mph +... makes the driver think he's going fast!

As for the speedo-I find my datalogger (DashDaq) to be anywhere from 1 to 4 mph off the speedo read out (digital)-granted thats on a C55-but they are off a little I think.
It is tomorrow-I vote for 203.

Alright fellow Albertan!
If you do, beforehand check the tires for damage, correct pressure, etc. and doing this kind of speed keep the ESP on! Maybe take a brave friend to scan the ditches while you focus on the road.
Dont end up like this guy LOL...
