For some reason, this guy in an X5 tried to race me yesterday. I repeat TRIED. He obviously had no clue what he was getting into. Needless to say, I destroyed him but I almost smacked right into his rear bumper before passing. When I kicked down for the 1st time (only had it 2 weeks) I was astonished by how fast I caught him and started to fly. I had to make a quick shift to the left and barely avoided his bumper. So, a word of advice to you new C63 drivers. Get used to the kick-down because it's f*****g fast.

LOL, that's why I prefer to be in a clear lane when I hit the go pedal on the beast!

Why even attempt to race something like that. Luckily you made it out okay. Racing SUVs can only lead to trouble.

Yeah I've never really understood why cars like that try to race us

Forgive the ignorance... but my c63 is officially my wife's daily driver now Originally Posted by Morro

she found it "cute" and never returned the keys to me. I still get to drive it on weekends lol. I never finished reading the manual. So, what is kick down? I never had an automatic car before so I'm assuming its when you down shift? How do engage this do I just literally kick down the accelerator?

Push the accelerator past the resistance point = FLOOR IT HARD! Originally Posted by arctichaze

^^^ Thanks for the tip.
In the few times i get to drive the C63 I'm actually surprised how responsive it is on S mode. A little tap and it immediately downshifts.

you can also squeeze and hold left paddle down (or push and hold stick to left) to downshift to lowest safe gear. I think it's slightly faster than just mashing the gas - or at least you can pinpoint the timing of the shift better with your throttle.Originally Posted by arctichaze

by resistance point, do you mean when you press the pedal all the way, but then it feels like there's a button under the pedal and it'll give a little more? i've always wondered what that was.Originally Posted by Hans Delbruck

A guy in a Volvo S60 tried to race me off the line, lets just say that I made it a block away before he past by.
