raced a e55 with my c63 MTHIS
#76
Just for reference your saying Mthis pulled only about 1 car on the stock C63?
This is what a ECU tuned only C63 pulls on a stock C63.

Back to the original point of the thread......stock E55 beats stock C63 just as the modded versions compare with one another. The 63 motor has many qualities that we can appreciate but the fact is when MB switched from the 55K motor the performance threshold was lowered significantly. I can only imagine a modded 55K sitting in my C63. If we are seeing high 10's in an E class without bottle what would our little Benz be running?

Stock E55 is quicker than stock M5/M6 down low. Once the cars get moving up top, the M5/M6 starts to pull. But 0-100, the E55 will dominate the M's consistently...
The E55 is actually faster than the E63. The E63 and M5 are comparable...

M5/M6 0-60 in 4.1 sec, 0-100 in 9.4 sec, and 1/4 mi 12.4 sec
E55 0-60 in 4.2 sec, 0-100 in 9.7 sec, and 1/4 mi in 12.5 sec

All actual comparisons of the two vehicles AT THE SAME TIME AND SETTING has the E55 winning all the time down low.
Don't get me wrong. I wish the M5 is faster than the E55.
I've researched this extensively at the time I purchased my M5 back in 2006-2007.
If you'd like, I'll have to go back and dig up the the specifics...

How far is that dyno spot from you? I want to get my car dynoed same place you get yours. I should be able to go monday. If your dyno doesn't come up as expected then there will be no reason to re-run. If you come out with what you expect then I will get my car dynoed to show I'm stock and make a few runs vs you again.

E55AMGGG04 - I usually ignore threads like this because its your word against MTHIS as to whether your car is stock or not but I can't ignore it any longer. Too bad you aren't in Florida.
Bring your "STOCK" E55 down here and I'll show you what the rear of a modded C63 looks like. My racing friend has a highly modded E55 and he barely beats me from a roll. His car pulls over 515rwhp and runs low 11's and mine runs mid 11's with 450rwhp. A stock E55 will get his butt handed to him with a modded C63. Your car is NOT stock. Trust me, I've run stock E55's before and its not even close.
Just looked it up. Stock 2004 E55 is only rated at 469FWHP. That means it will probably dyno at what, 400rwhp maybe? You expect anyone to beleive that a heavier car with approximately 400rwhp will beat lighter car with 428rwhp. Come on, who's taking who for a ride?

In the defense of E55AMGGG04, I have ran him personally and won all races (by 2-3 car lengths everytime, from a 40 roll and a 60 roll to around 140) and if he was tuned he would have absolutely won. SO I know for a fact that he is NOT tuned............

Wow Keith, now who is being a "bully"
Considering that all this happened on the street without any measurement standards we may have to wait until a current dyno is available. It's possible that Mthis is having a hardware issue or maybe the tune just went South? The 55K motor seems stronger on the big end of the track than from a dig given that I have jumped in front of Vinny numerous times only to see him go by like a freight train.

Bro there is no point in trying. I posted up videos of the stock C63 and modded C63 races. Obviously Mthis C63 is not that much faster then the stock 1 according to the races meaning its his tune not my car. I already spoke to the guy with the modded C63 and we going to meet up and get the cars dynoed on monday.

E55AMGGG04 - Who's to say that between now and Monday you don't change the tune in your car?? Then you will dyno stock and mthis's car will be fine. All I will say is that if you dyno at 400rwhp and mthis dyno's at 425rwhp something has changed.
If mthis's car is off then I will rightfully apologize but if his car is fine then something is changing. I guess we'll wait for his dyno numbers.
I'm not being a bully, just stating the facts about weight vs power. A 4200 pound E55 with 400rwhp will not pull a 3800 pound C63 with 425rwhp. You have to admit something isn't right about that picture.

Why are people jumping all over E55AMGGG04? The E55 just puts down a lot of power and my friend has dusted V10 M5's, 911's, modded 335's, E92 M3's, and even Ferrari's. The list goes on and on so there's no reason to believe that it can't kill a C63. And the published numbers are just that. The E55 is putting down more power than advertised and this is not unheard of.
Every engine is different and puts out a different amount of power even though it's the same on paper. Then factor in the driver and atmospheric conditions which can affect the power a particular tune can deliver. If you get your car dyno tuned at a high elevation and in dry weather your car will perform differently when taken to sea level and in high humidity. Who cares if the E55 is faster than a C63, even if tuned. There's always someone faster out there. That's what makes it all fun.

My $0.02, for whatever it's worth... there are a lot of factors at play here, not just peak hp. 5-spd gearing vs. 7-spd, F/I torque curve vs. N/A, traction, drivers, traffic, fractions of a second on who gets the jump first, etc etc etc. If you guys are that hung-up on who's carrying the bigger stick, dyno 'em AND take 'em to the strip, and report back with the results.
DadsC63 - you might not frequent the w211 AMG forum, but AFAIK E55's are considered to be underrated by the factory... many dyno around the 420 rwhp range on a Dynojet IIRC.
JMHO - anyone who makes this big of a deal out of a impromptu street race is way too uptight about a pretty trivial thing - insecure, perhaps? Those vids are absolutely priceless for their comedic value though, I thoroughly enjoyed them.
There's always somebody faster - even that turbo'd Civic that's worth less than your wheels and tires.
EDIT: rantar, well said - beat me to it.

All I got to say is, although those videos ain't much (too short, disorganized races), its still very surprising how hard and quickly the e55 is pulling on the C63. Even when the C63 gets a head start the e55 catches up and passes in no time. If the race were longer the C63 would be behind by 10 cars or so it seems.
