The strange situation I always find myself in is that most of the drivers of the usual suspects (M3, M5, RS4, other AMGs, etc.) don't seem too interested in getting it on when I see them on the street. It's all the folks driving Volvos, mini-vans, pick-up trucks, and other relatively pedestrian cars who want to have a go. And then if I mash the accelerator for even just a few brief seconds, they back off and stay well back after that.

Strange, but true.

I have an E92 M3 but I'm nervous to see the outcome against a C63..I also have a manual so I'm pretty positive he would pull on me

It'd still be a good race. Lots of respect for the current generation M3 around here.

Too bad you're not out this way... I have the same issue. I did come across an M3 a month or so ago that seemed like he wanted to go at it....for a little bit. Anyway, he must've changed his mind because he never really approached me again, even when I slowed waaaay down. He did give me a thumbs up though, so it was all good I suppose.

I do seem to get a lot of Mustang's or SRT-8 cars willing to go at it.... Needless to say, they haven't been much of a match so far. I don't really even pay them much attention anymore. I even had a new Nissan Maxima trying to bait me into a run. I didn't feel like hurting his feelings though

+1, and I mean MURDER

I had my friend drive my '06 CTS-V and destroyed it time and time again. GTO and the V in the same league. AMG on a whole nother level.

Stock vs. Stock, of course

When I drive the V now it feels like a freakin' slug

Similar thing happens here and there are never muitple runs like I see on the videos - it's one and done.

I LOVE this car and don't care about the fact I could have bought it for $12k less today [Edit: this comment was random and off topic...]

Kleemann K1 will be my first mod in August [Edit: ...so was this one]

I've got an 07 SRT8 Jeep that will give you a good run it's fast enough to beat an SL 65 AMG last night. That reminds me I need to update the 1/4 time in my sig. Like others said you never know what kind of mods the ones on your list may have who knows you might end up on their list of cars that are not worth their time racing, enjoy the vid

Up to speeds under about 80mph, the SRT8 jeep is deadly. They 60' like crazy with the awd and the other faster cars usually take until about 80 or 100mph to catch up. Clearly a longer race the SL would have won.

+1,
After 100mph, they hit a brick wall called aerodynamics.
What do they trap, < 110mph?

Here is a vid from this past weekend of my buddies tune and intake only jeep (5120lbs) running an SL 65 AMG at Ennis, now if the OP says the SRT8 Jeeps are not worth his time he must be racing them past 100 any street race situation the jeep could of shut down and been 2 to 3 cars ahead and poked fun of the MB on the forums. In this vid jeep ran 12.86 to the SL 12.68 I consider it a good race dont you guys. Now understand I'm not on here to start trouble I just didn't like the way the OP came off saying the Jeep was a waste of his time, now unless his MB runs sub 4 second 0-60 and launches well I simply dont understand why he would dismiss them as a wast of time.

4 wheel drive makes for easier launches that Jeep is no exception its crazy fast.

I got spanked by an Evo 9 last week. It was a definite sleeper until we gunned it and I could hear its external waste gates open and it drowned my exhaust. At that point I knew I was F-ed. Oh well I had an Evo before so I should have known.

I'll give you credit, for the money the Jeep SRT-8 is a nice package. From stop light to stop light you can have fun with a bunch of cars. Not to mention at the drag strip you can put up some nice numbers. However from a rolling start, when the AWD advantage is eliminated the Jeep is at the disadvantage. Your claim to beat a SL65 is flamed by most on the forums because you gave no details. Was this a planned race? Was it from a stop? Was the SL's top down? Your going to have a tough time convincing anyone that from a roll your SRT-8 or any modded SRT-8 (Aside from the FI ones) is going to kill a C63 or equivalently modded C63 let alone a SL65.

WOW !!! so much hate one a 5000lbs plus TRUCK, comparing to a lighter CAR, bigger displacement engine, and to think I was considering getting a C63, you guys really dont know what your talking about, well most of you dont, I hope I can run some of you some day, please do not take this as disrespect to anyone, but I thought you guys would give this truck more credit, guess not.

I dont think anyone here is disregarding the fact that the jeep SRT-8 is one hell of a fast SUV. Actually, that's probly the only SRT-8 in the line up that i admire being a SUV is faster than its siblings. The only questioning here is the statement of an SRT-8 beating an SL65 biturbo. Srry but i dont believe that, unless the SL65 driver was on drugs!

I noticed that 1QWKJEEP has a MHP tune. I wonder how a SRT8 MHP tune only veh runs against a C63 MHP tune only? You gotta respect the fact that it is one fast Jeep.

The Jeep SRT-8's are quick from a dig (mostly due to their AWD and high TQ), but at high speeds, they really are slowed down by their poor "brick-like" aerodynamics and AWD. I ran with a couple of them on the hwy. before with my tuned BMW 335i Coupe, and none of the runs were close; at the higher speeds, I just kept pulling hard.

LOL SRT 8's cant beat the C63

i have raced it, for sure it has a great start due to AWD but later when our engine kicks in they have no way on winning

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epmGE--EtN0

look at when the SRT dies out vs the ML63

Yeah at 14 seconds into the vid which would put mine at about 120mph so whats you point it took a bigger engine same weight SUV 14 seconds to catch and pass the SRT Jeep WOW thats amazing

LOL the way the make the suv is a different way, how their power displacement is way different

if you want to compare directly you have to compare same to same

why dont you go compare your SRT 8 to a Dragster
