Check Engine Oil?
Whenever I drive the car "Check engine oil before refueling" pops up in the cluster. Then kinda goes away by its self. It happens intermittently. You fellow AMG brol's get this?

R u serious?? So everytime that stupid thing pops up I have to pull over and add oil? lol Then at the 10,000 mile mark I have to take it to the dealer and they have to change the oil? Thats some weird shizznit. What if i ignore the message(that's what I've already been doing) and just keep driving her until she needs an oil change.

Never ignore that warning... that means that your're running low on oil. If you've been ignoring it for quite sometime that probably means you need as much as 2 quarts of oil now. If you continue to ignore it your engine will not be fully lubricated and you'll suffer premature wear and tear.
Do the math add 2 quarts of oil for $20 and fix it or ignore and cut the life of your engine by a few 10k miles. Your choice... and dont be cheap you are after all driving a $65k car with a high performance engine that apparently likes to burn oil. And NO that is not "weird shizznit" almost all high performance engine when pushed to its limits would burn oil its just a matter of how much. This engine in particular since its so big would be inclined to burn a bit more. Bigger volume = more surface area inside the engine to lubricate.

Dude, it's not the matter of being cheap I just wanted to ask you guys that have had this car longer than me and have had experience with this message, I've had the car for one week, but coming from a 6.1 litre hemi engine I have never added oil myself.

It takes about 3.5 minutes to pop the hood and check the level when you're getting gas.

Not to sound mean but that's because your old car didn't have an oil level sensor. HEMIs are notorious for burning oil you just dint know about it since there was no flashing "low oil" light nor did you ever check the dip stick every 1k miles or so.

Just pulled the dipstick out, low and behold it was on minimum. Ran to autozone picked up 2 quarts of 0W-40, and topped her off.

Your right I never PERSONNALY checked the oil in the HEMI, because their was no need. I just took the car to the dealer when the oil change was due, about every 5000 miles.

Questionable Need For Oil
Got the message a week ago, while going through some easy twisties on leisure drive. We pulled over and added the quart. The following day upon startup, belches two huge puffs of smoke from the exhaust. We have 2500 miles on the machine now. Seems our baby doesn't like too much oil, whether using the upper two of the three plastic indicators on the dip stick or following the recommendation by the computer to add oil via the dash message. Da picture of the dipstick in the owners manual and what we have on the machine are not one in the same! The rest of the car seems to be doing fine.
