So I went to dealership this morning to get 5k oil change... just because I still don't understand the whole 10k Miles oil change thing.

Anyways they called me at noon to pick up my car and I drive there with the complimentary rental after having lunch with a few office buddies.

We walk to the floor to see the SL65 Black in person and there were 3 of them on the floor. There is a tall guy walking around and all of a sudden I hear someone talk to him asking "So which one do you want to test drive the White, Black, Silver?" He answers "Black" and the sales person proceeds to maneuver the car out of the showroom floor. Shortly thereafter while waiting for my car in the valet section I see this Black SL65 Black roaring down the street at around 100MPH at full throttle. It sounds bad ***!

My office mates were speechless. We were all wondering who is this guy was, that he is actually given a choice on which $310K sports car he wants to drive out for a test drive.

A typical day in Newport Beach I guess?

 

He must have been a regular customer.

 

Well if is buying one...I don't see why it would be special on being given a choice of color?

I'd say he is any guy that can purchase/finance/lease a 310k (probably lower though) car.

I'm starting to think about buying the car after the lease and I wonder about the 10,000 oil change interval.

 

The service advisor seemed pissed at me... wondering why I was wasting money. He goes about saying "you have a beautiful carefully machined engine under the hood. The days of 3k oil changes are over. MB knows how to maintain things that they make so you should follow the service schedule."

I proceed to say hey I'm giving you money you should be happy so STFU

At least he was concerned with your money and not his commission. Yes, they are on commission.

Dealers have special leasing option on the SL65 BS. A lease to buy deal on this vehicle is $20k down and $5k @ month for two years with 7500 mileage limitation. That's based on a 300K window. Oh...on approved credit of course!:
