Matt carbon or Gloss Carbon ?

Guys ,

Title says it all.
Which one do you prefer for a entire carbon kit ( aero parts - front lip , vents , rear diff , trunk spoiler ) ?

I own a Black C63 and I'm wondering which one to buy.

Some critics will say matte carbon looks unfinished and other critics say gloss carbon looks cheap.

+1 flip a coin or just listen to your heart.

I've gone through the exact same question before. My conclusion was gloss cf looks the best with a black car.

if it's for performance, dry carbon (matte carbon)
if it's for look, wet carbon (gloss carbon)

Most of the matte finish CF on the market is just a matte clearcoat. When I was trying to decide, I was told chips and scratches will show more on the matte finish. I personally think the matte looks more aggressive than the gloss.

i reckon if you have a shiny black car, the wet glossy carbon look is a good combo.. should you have a matt black car, then the dry carbon look compliments it.. but that's just me and my two cents worth

The finish has nothing to do with the lamination method. Both a matte finish and a gloss finish can be achieved on a pre-preg (dry) or wet lamination lay up. It is merely a coating that is added AFTER the part is removed from the tool during the finishing stages.

IMHO a complete full carbon kit whether it's matte dry or gloss or w.e will look hideous. C63s covered all in carbon fiber dont look appealing at all. For performance gains go for it, but you will totally ruin the looks of your whip. A perfect example is the full carbon kit from Revozport. Search around the forum and look for a white benz with that full kit. If you like that look then go for it, but that has to be one of the ugliest things i've seen in this forum. Except for the diffuser and the vents.

Here're some pictures of the Matte Carbon Fitted on a Palladium Silver C63, for your information, the Matte Dry Carbon is done via Vacuum Infusion and not Hand wet laid.

Or you can Paint the Top part of the front lip to body color

Here's a picture of a Black C63 with Gloss Carbon RBS Kit
