Instigation Techniques

Interested in hearing about the different ways to entice people to race?
  • Pull alongside and rev the engine?
  • Take off real quick and slow down?
  • Look over at the other car until the driver looks at you?
  • You don't have to do anything because races always find you?
My technique is not working - I just speed by minding my own business hoping someone jumps... but rarely does anyone try and catch up, keep up, or pass me... gotta try something different but I don't want to be an A55hole about it.

Suggestions appreciated.

People in the Pac NW are way too passive. If you want to race someone go to California...just kidding...I used to live there and had an M3 and only one time did someone try to race.

Thanks for lifting my spirits! J/K

I hear you though. When I lived in Atlanta all I had to do was hop on I-20 at night. And I could find races to my heart's content.

I imagine you can find good runs in Houston?

It is amazing...anyone with a G35/G37 always wants to run. Not much of a challenge, though. I have seen more M3's and IS-F's that have no interest. I raced an S600 early on and he pulled on me at higher speeds. So yes, definitely more playful folks in Houston.

A M3 tried those tricks on me but it did'nt work for him coz my car just got detailed by a fellow mb member (ocklasse)... dont want bugs to die on my windshield and headlights.....

On the serious side is that I dont race, I just drive fast on my own!!!

Just pull up alongside and smile and I'm good to go.

As long as it's safe, then giddyup...win or lose it's all in good fun....drive it like you stole it.

I can't get people to quit trying to racing me. Like friggin' gnats everywhere. I finally just debadged the car and that helps a lot..........

Living in SoCal I can understand that. But, as a disclaimer, since I don't own an AMG, if you happen to see a Honda Accord pull alongside you, rev a couple times with the window down, please rev back. I just wanna hear your engine. I'll even throw in a thumbs up =)

+1.... I had a 335i try to keep up with me (going 110 on a road trip at 5:30am - zero traffic)...a Chevy HHR on my tail - which I then ditched, at which point he tried to catch up again (I have no idea why )...A lexus IS250 which floored it after a stop light.. and so many more. I don't bother wasting the gas anymore and let them feel proud and mighty
