Laser Jammers
Guys ,
Don't know if its a subject that can be discussed here but lets try.
I just bought a Blinder M27 laser jammer for my baby C63.
I was just wondering if anybody already got this wired to a C-Class.
If not , what would be , on your opinion , the best way to mount the jammer heads ( that receive the cop's laser ) ?
Tks.

looking to do the samething
I was thinking of going with the escort jammers, I already have the passport 9500xi. Let me know how you get them on and post a picture.
I have seen a 2009 E63 AMG in the are with them on. He has them on top of the foglights and in the back license plate.

2009 C63 AMG - Steel Grey
I have the Escort 9500CI with the Laser Jammers and its saved me more than once. Its a really nice set up. Comes with the GPS Positioning system so it saves false alarms after going by the same spot 3 times. Where I live their is quite a few Stores, banks etc with the automatic door openers and they would always give me false alarms with my old Bel radar detector, but not anymore. You can update via the internet and a USB cord to get all the latest speed camera's, red light cameras. Its very nice, but spendy unit. Cost me $ 1600 from Car Toys and then installation on top of it. But like I said its saved me more than once and the speed I was going my insurance premium increase would more than equal that over a few years....

I have the 9500CI installed in the following way:
* 2 laser shifters and one radar detector mounted inside the lower front grills between the fog lights
* Laser shifter above the rear license plate (offset to the right to allow access to the trunk latch)
* Display unit mounted in the ashtray with a power button
* LED mounted in the dash (lights up when there is an alarm)
* GPS receiver mounted under the top of the dash (i.e. can’t see it but still picks up the Satellite signals)
* Speaker and USB port mounted near the accelerator (i.e. tucked up near the centre console)
* Head Unit somewhere in the dash
The setup is completely stealth (apart from the laser shifter on the rear which is still pretty hard to see). It was professionally installed in a day.
Total cost was $3,600 including install and tax. Pricey but worth it IMHO.
FYI, I asked the installer to put in a a cable for a reverse camera to the trunk in case I decide to intall that. He already had to put in a cable for the rear shifter so it was not much extra work.
GPS function is great at:
* Isolating non-police radar - If it detects the same frequency at the same spot three times it ignores it there after (unless you tell it not too). This is especially helpful at silencing false X-band alerts as there are plenty of things other than police radar that use it)
* Alerting you to red light cameras (and speed cameras but yet to come across one yet)
* Isolating alarms created by those "Your Speed is XX MPH" signs
I always have a smile when when passengers hear the "You are approaching a red light camera" voice alert for the first time. Them: "What was that?" Me: "What was what?" .....
I have yet to come across a laser speed trap so not sure if the shifter will work as advertised. Tapping the mute button twice turns the jamshifter off so that the police can then get a lock on you. (the installer did have a device that set off the laser shifter so I think it will work).

Kaiba - holler at Cliff, he's the US distributor for the company and a Mercedes owner. He'll point you to pix of the ideal install locations. FWIW - it's inside the large gills of the main cooling intake, at each side near the headlights.

You're install is wrong.
I have the 9500 and Escort shifter 3.
The front diodes have to be mounted in clear view of the road ahead and LEVEL. They CAN NOT be behind the grill or under the front bumper as they will not work properly.
You could cut holes in the front bumper and mount them in that or under the front bumper but sticking out slightly so they have an unobstructed view of the road ahead.
