Is the E63 Coupe really based on the C chassis?

The question is how are they going to raise the power to 500-525? With that increase in power you'll probably also see an increase in price probably by 1-2000? Might as well get 2010 and just get a ECU tune. Might even by cheaper in the long run

When the new direct injection (DI) is used that will increase power (hp and torque) I would say hp to at least 470 to 480 and will also run more efficient (gas mileage). And with changes to the exhaust and ecu and it falls all under warranty. AMG left alot of play room for improvement with this car and powerplant.

Aluminum won't shave 400+ lbs off the car. I expect carbon fiber roof, hood, deck lid and many other bits. And to get to 500-525hp, all they need to do is use the normal tune (the M156 gets 507hp+ in other applications).
Unfortunately, I think direct injection may be a ways off -- the SLS (whose M159 is a heavily-updated, dry-sump M156 engine) apparently does not have DI.

I hope you are right. And I agree that there are a lot of good reasons for DI and that M-B is behind the curve on this. Hell, even GM has had DI gasoline engines for a couple of years now.
However, DI requires new engine internals including new crank and pistons for higher compression and obviously it requires new intake and heads - you can't just slap it on the car. It will need to be a significantly revised, nearly all new, engine. The M159 is that significantly revised/new engine, and it does not have DI. I would think that if M-B were close to DI, it would have been included on the M159.
(And the new E63 is not DI.)
