My car's been complaining about my tire pressure all day.. I'm running 36 all round. What's everyone running this summer?

I have my non-PP C63 AMG's oem Pirelli's set to the recommended 39psi (NitroFill -- nitrogen) all the way around.

Off Topic: Why would Helium be a bad idea? It is the lightest of inert gasses and easy to obtain. Now Hydrogen I can understand (thinking hindenberg).

While admittedly expensive I've been running a Bose-Einstein condensate of rubidium in my tires for the past week. Handling couldn't be better.

I wonder if helium would escape faster due to its small atomic size??

39 all around but the weight of the equipment to keep the stuff at near 0 kelvin is a performance hit.

I installed a flux capacitor to get to 0 kelvin. My dealership said it would void my warranty unless I attached this sticker right below the AMG badge.

Did you just get new tires? I've replaced tires twice on my 08 and both times the tire warning went off all day. The first time, the dealer reset everything during the oil change. Need to take it to them now and have it reset...can't find time.

The dealer must be some proprietary equipment used to reset it. Discount Tire's prices are much better and they offer better rubber.

..just order from Tire Rack and ship to dealer. Discount did terrible job of balancing when I purchased from them.

Good idea. Discount screwed up my first set of rears. The balance was horrible. They ended up replacing them after 4 days.

Just to get everything on one thread..
Seems that the correct tire pressure for stock tires (everyday driving) is what? 38 - 39Psi?

If you track the car Front 36 and Rear 34 should be optimal..?

What about winter tires? I have 235s all round and get the "correct tire pressure" light on all the time.. Does it matter that the tires are smaller cos I have them at Front 36 and rear 39... Doesnt seem right to me but thats what they put in them when they changed my tires... What would be the best PSI for a "winter setup"?

for the winter, i'm still running 39 psi and i have 225s all around. it's better that you have a narrow tire in the winter so the tires can dig through the snow.

How do you guys run in the 30's when it calls for 41/45 PSI? I know you dont' always have to run what is called for, but when I get into the 36-37 range, the TPMS goes off...

45 on the rears seems to deliver more wheel spin, but it rides much smoother.

I have 2 tire pressure stickers...one on my driver's door jamb and the other inside the gas cap, and they don't show the same tire pressures. Leave it up to the Germans to confuse us Americans. So, I go by the one on the inside of my gas cap, which states 39psi/39psi if under a light load, and this is what I typically run with the Nitro-fill. It does show to use 41psi front / 45psi rear if under a heavy load though.

btw -- if you reset the TPMS, it will go by whatever tire pressures you currently have. So, if you have 38psi in all 4 tires, then reset your TPMS, the computer will go by the 38psi and the TPMS will only signal the low tire pressure light when it goes below X psi below 38psi.

Thanks...always stare at the ROM 93 Octane sticker when filling up, since we only have 92 E10 max in HI

I just can't see to find a good tire pressure...I just put new Falken's on, and was hoping not to spin all the way through first anymore...but that is still happening...I guess I'll try 39 and see what happens.

Off topic: Where are you at in FL? I used to roam the streets of Miami-Dade in my Silver S2K and 350Z...LOVED sitting in traffic on the 826/836/95...fun times if you are down there...I don't miss that place AT ALL (other than the occasional pay check burnoff down on South Beach)

I am running 39 all the way around. Regarding wheel spin, that is going to be hard to avoid on this width of tire and over 450 hp!!

But, yesterday the strangest thing happened...feathered a bit then punched it at about 4K and it spun, so I let off just a bit...then it went to 2nd, and I jabbed it again, and this time it went to 3rd and then quickly 4th...not happy with the S-mode making that sort of shotty decision on its own.

That is why I use manual most of the time...I find that if I am in Sport, and try to come off too much, it thinks I want to shift gears...2d is usually ok too, but yesterday, it shifting into 3rd and 4th was weird.
