2009 C63 AMG - Steel Grey
I have the Escort 9500CI and swear by it. It has saved me numerous times. Its got the GPS, Updateabel database for speed traps, red light cameras, etc. It learns false signals by GPS locations so after driving around my neighborhood for awhile it learns all false alarms. Its great....

I have the Valentine 1. I love that radar. It can be connected to the cars electrical system so you wont need that wire hanging in the middle of the dash

V1. I put my older Escort 8500 in my wife's GL450, and as much as I like the Escort, the V1 is more sensitive for Ka and Laser AND once you live with the V1 Arrows, there's no going back without them...the arrows are very helpful!

i've got 2 v1s. love them. could use some extra features such as gps and less false alarms but i guess you can't have the best of both. like the escort with arrows, or the v1 with gps. if my phone had gps, i would be using trapster.

I have been looking into this as well, but have not pulled the trigger. I am trying to figure out if the Passport 9500 laser 'jammers' really work. Cool concept, just wondering if they are a gimmick. Also, saw a website that showed a Valentine installation where the display was built into the rearview mirror. Very slick! Anybody know anything about either of these?
Still waiting to get my baby back from the shop. I hopped a curb and did considerable damage to both left wheels and suspension.

IMO..V1 hands down...originally purchased 9500i as I didn't think I could wait for the V1, ordered a V1 and returned the 9500i and didn't look back, well worth the wait. Arrows are an EXCELLENT feature and once you learn the radar detector you will love it...I too stuffed my wire in the roof, along the top of the windshield, down the pillar, and tapped into power beside the glove box for an easy professionally installed look, hope this helps

Can any one share some pics after installation? I am just afraid it looks ugly in the car with all the wires and increase the chance of broken window.. Definitely need one for this car…

Thanks for all the info guys, but i think i will stick with my escort X50. all the other bells an whistles sound great but all i need one to do is pick up radar so i can slow down. But if my X50 stops working i will go back to this thread and use one of your suggestions.
Cheers

You mean the one used for smoking? If that's the one you're talking about yea I knew that, but wire wouldn't extend that long. I basically made mine so you can't see any wires. There was this one part I couldn't stuff in which was on the passenger side from the window to the door hinge area so it shows like 3 inches of wire. Can't really tell and it's not like it stands out so ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

Is this a question or a comment??? There's a ton of sites addressing, BUT the consensus seems to be:
Redline (not yet released)
Escort 9500 iX or 9500 i
Valentine One
** Pick your poison, some people love one or another **** You can even run both if they are separated far enough as to not interfere with one another **

I have the V1 set up next to the rear view mirror and I have the wire going through the roof where the window and the roof touch. If you feel it there's a gap where you can fit the wires in. I snaked it all the way to the passenger side and led it down. You can stuff it in there as well. I snaked it all the way to the bottom and it sticks out on the dash where the pillar is on the left hand side and I snaked it on the side where the door and the dash will touch. You'll see a big "D" kinda shape there. From there the wire is just goes into the glove box.
It really doesn't move or fall, but once in a while it might. I've only had to fix it twice in the last year. Just make sure you stretch the wire all the way straight so when you close the glove box compartment you won't have any loose wires dangling.
You might need a flat head screw driver to stuff the wires in at the pillars when you run it down from the roof to the dash against the window. Hope this helps you a bit. I'll be sure to take some pictures and pm them over as soon as I get it back.
