The search function has been sucking. I think it broke. But you will get a difference in opinion, some will say beat the **** out of it and others will say follows manufacture recommendation.

I followed the manufacture recommendation.

IMHO, it does not matter either way.

If you are risk averse -- follow break-in period
If you are not risk averse -- drive as you would

the break in is not for the motor... its for the rearend and the tranny. i would think the AMG engineers would know more about this then us forum guys. so with that in mind i would follow the instructions that you will find on the upper left corner of the inside of your windshield. under 1k miles no kick down and no revs above 4500 rpm. only drive in comfort mode. do not down shift with paddles stay under 85 mph.

i have broken those rules on limited occassion and not severly. but i plan on keeping my car a very long time.

I don't disagree with you but I think this is the point in these recycled threads where the following point gets brought up...

AMG engineers are just making recs based off advice from their legal department. MBUSA is just trying to covers its behind when they recommend the break in routine. My sister's brother's dog's aunt broke his car in really hard and it runs fine.

That's bullcrap, what legal reason could AMG possibly have to give us a break in period? NONE. Just some idiotic conjecture some know it all internet hero came up with. Again its your car do as you like, but don't give out false advice to new owners.

Your sarcasm meter is off. I've seen so many of these threads that I posted the next expected reply. I don't have much of an actual interest in this issue.

The thread I posted above has all the relevant back and forth.

The thread I posted is one of the better ones on this topic. It's not your fault that search is down. Congrats on the car. I've had mine since September. Love it.

i didn't strictly stick to the break in recommendations. i had a long trip the day after i got so i ran highway speeds up to 90 for long periods of time. and i gunned it a few times at red lights. never smoked the tires just pumped up the rpms. mine is running great after 4700 miles i still have plenty of tread on my tires and oil usage gets less all the time.

I have a sticker in my windshield(inside the cabin) and it says:

No revin past 4500rpm
No use of Kicck-down
No full load operation
Break in untill 1000miles.

If you want I can take a picture of it. It comes in two or 3 different languages. I hope this helps.

If it cant take it right out of the box it shouldn not be considered a "performance vechile". The motor is already broke in. All my life I have had Porsches and hammered the **** out of them from day one! Never one issue ever.
