thinking of buying a 135I for a daily driver

Don't care for its looks but respect its handling and the turbo I6. The C63 is a sedan. It's pretty much a daily driver. If you had a roadster then I can understand. To each his own.

It was between the Evo X and 135i for my next daily driver. I love Evos but I really didn't want another 5MT that spins high on the freeway (my commute is mostly freeway 100 miles a day)
Chose the 135i 6MT and I'm picking it up in Munich next week! Euro Delivery discount meant almost $6000 off MSRP![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
It needs a little suspension work, and I'll definitely get new wheels to lose the runflats, but I love the compact size along with the build quality and power. Have you driven one yet?

i guess the point is probably mute since i am retired and don't have a daly commute. it would still be nice to have a car to run my errands with that wont pile miles on my c63.

$40k sounds amazingly cheap to me, even for a second hand one. Here in Australia cars are outrageously expensive, I paid $105,000 AUD new for mine. Still it’s the best ‘shopping trolley’ I’ve ever had. Evo’s are a great drive but don’t compare when it comes down to the luxury of the 135i in my opinion.

Had a 09 135i for 4 mos until i got into an accident and was totaled.
It was my daily driver and been replace with C63. Here's my take:
1) like the looks-very sporty
2) fast car with dinan chip
3) terible handling-very choppy,heavy understeer,run flat-hard/slick,
unstable at high speed (fix by Kwv2).
4) beware of Fuel pump issue (engine crank for 3-5 secs)
The car was OK but would never buy another. Was going with 335i sedan
until found a great discount on C63. Couldn't be happier!![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

2. At the $40k price point, you have many options. My reco is shop around and don't get that little ugly thing (just my opinion). Of course... your money your choice. Enjoy whatever you get.

If you need a DD get something slow and relaxing. It is such a pleasure to drive a "normal" car and think that you have a beast in your garage. If you get a 135 you will probably start modding it, well it will provoke you to mod it

Granted the 135i is known for its understeer but it only becomes evident when being pushed hard on a track. It’s not at all noticeable in a daily unless the driver is a complete lunatic. The choppy ride can be improved greatly by getting rid of the run flats and plenty of highly strung cars have a choppy ride on the street. Why would you compare it to the C63 anyway, given he is looking for a supplement to the one he already owns. They are not competitors. Why not compare the C63 to an M3 and then the AMG’s handling characteristics start to come into question? If he’s interested in a 135i comparison as a daily and not a track weapon, the BMW has a lot to offer. Good power and good luxury, particularly if it’s an up spec’d version. The Evo for example as a competitor has good power, sensational track handling, a poverty pack interior and if it’s an older model, make sure you invest in a kidney belt. Still if I was you and had to choose between the 135i and C63, you definitely made the right choice.

dmyrick:
I had a 335 TT for two years and after the initial honeymoon wore off it wasn't so great after all.
The power was nice, the interior was good, and the ride was similar to my E46 M3.
The downside was all the problems that I had with it!
2 fuel pumps had to be replaced (once I was stranded in the hot desert)![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
I had to have the "Oil Cooler" added after the oil kept overheating which was a problems with early 335's, there were also other problems too.
I'm sure most of the early problems have been worked out but beware that the 135 is a new car completely too.
Good luck on your decision!![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Phil

C63
went to the dealer today, but they didn't have any 35s for me to try. I just think that C63 (which i love) is getting too many miles to fast (4700 in two months) plus i cant stay off the gas peddle 90-100 every where i go.
