Not to say DLS wouldn't have won, but one of the runs you see the C63 jump a head and then all of a sudden its like something happen and the C63 just was passed instantly. It seems like he tried shifting and either had jumped 2 gears, or let off the gas paddle shifted and by the time he got the next gear it was over with every shift being even worse. Again shows the superiority of the M DCT.

accualy if you learn how to drive you car in M is a big yes yes. it takes time and ALOT of practice but i got it down pat. and the gear changes are big diff plus i have the tune so maybe it works beter for me. (i know it does)

I always drive in M mode, so the only real question is whether it is better to shift at redline (and/or when the C63 "tells you to upshift" with the flashing red upshift message) or short-shift at ~ 6500rpm?

If I'm not mistaken, I think he got about 40 whp more from his mods.. I haven't seen his dyno but going off a friend's car with similar mods (all Active Autowerke bolt ons), I'm going to assume that the gains are pretty much across the rev range with a nice little bump in torque as well... I'm going to speculate that his car would lose to a K2 package.. Maybe K1 as well but not so sure... I guess we'll have some kind of indication of that when he runs the same C63 but with its newly acquired PC tune...

Make sure you race again after at least a month of getting the tune (once his ECU is fully broken in). The car will not be running full potential if you guys race the day after or like the first week after his tune. Very nice race, was expecting that, but was also expecting your M3 to pull much more than that with those mods. Will be waiting for the video after the tune!

Very clean, non-biased videos keep it up!

Thanks man!

He's already gotten the tune, we will be running in the next few weeks. It's hard to tell how many CLth's in the vid from the side mirror, my buddy said it was about 5 CLth's before we let off. I agree with most here with the tune, he might just edge me out, with additional mods no doubt he will.

I agree, on GIAC's Mustang dyno, stock M3's were in the 318-328 range. I hit 363whp, so the gains are 30-40whp. On a DJ, probably 370-380whp. I am positive I would loose to a K2 package, K1 would be interesting.

Practice? It doesn't take a genius to click a paddle before the needle on the tach passes 7200RPM. In fact if you wait one second after the instrument display turns red you will 99% of the time shift at red line. However the whole time it takes for the actual "process" shift to occur and notice the drop in RPM's I am still convinced its longer then having the car rev to red line then shift itself. This is still an automatic we are talking about, thus manual mode is nothing to brag about. Aside from using it on a road course, when it comes to every day driving IMHO its only benefits are:

1. Deceleration through lower gears
2. Passing other vehicles in mild traffic
3. Listening to the exhaust as you downshift into lower gear

When it comes to racing whether on the streets or at the drag strip it offers no advantage. I rarely seen a post from a member on any AMG board who got better times at the drag strip in manual mode then in sport.

12.1 at 115MPH, is what I've seen so far.

I have not gone yet with my mods, stock I hit 12.7 at 112. My friend has the fastest 335I 1/4 mile ET and trap in the world, 11.8 at 120, I ran his car wtih the same mods I have now, minus the scoops, and we were pretty heads up.

On the Vbox "performance box" times right after the runs we did, he trapped 118mph. I will hit the track when it cools down to get some times with the mods. My 60-130 time is 10.8, but I can do better when it cools down. For reference an M6 does it in about 10.4, and an F430 about 10.1, A C63 with a tune and headers hit 10.4 as well, a stock 996tt does it in 12.1, stock GTR did it in 10.9, of course conditions play a role in the results as well.

Hmm, with tune and headers do you think it's possible for us to pull on the GT-R from a roll?

So a stock M6 is as fast as a tune and headers C63. That's crazy. Make me want one even more now.

I wonder how a modded M6 fairs? Or do they not respond to mods? I have been out of the BMW loop since I sold my E46 M3 in 02. I do remember a vid of a M6 pulling a F430 up top.

Also, wouldn't mind seeing modded 996 TT times.

My next ride is between, M6, 996TT, and C63.

Not sure why (weight maybe? ) but an M6 is faster than an M5 with the same V10 engine. However, all that may change with the new 4.4L F/I tt V8 engine.

Here's the Rematch, the C63 now with the PC ECU tune +59whp! Good times, the C63 owner is a great guy as well, love both of these cars.

Agreed, there were a few other runs that I didn't add because the starts were just not right, the cars are very close. I do think had we kept going, like Mthis said, the 63 would start to creep away.
