Magic 1000 miles mark
Now my car has 950 miles already and I am really excited since it's going to pass 1000 mark next week for sure
I just wonder how you guys did it? Just floor it since 1001? or just start to use sports or manual mode but not too crazy at the beginning? Since now there are a lot new cars around the forum. I am curious...

Break her in nice for the first 1k. The ECU can always be reflashed so the "Drive her like you want her to perform is BS"
What can you lose from driving her nice for 1K? Nothing.
Personally I think they put the 1K mark in there so you can get used to the power slowly and not kill yourself the day you drive off the lot.

Drive her like you want her to perform is not BS. in my long time of buying cars i've never held one back( about thirty cars) and i have always got better performance than expected in both miles and power.
but man it's your car, do what you want with it

Im not trying to be a jerk im just tired of hearing the "Drive it like you want it to drive" like its some super intelligent adaptive computer. The ECU and TCU will learn small driving habits. Beating the crap out of the car will only help if you can ALWAYS beat the crap out of it and never hit any traffic. The moment you hit a good stint of traffic the TCU changes the way the car shifts to a less aggressive mode. The same for the ECU. Unless your on the track 24/7 the computer will eventually learn to drive less aggressive due to traffic and city driving.
Resetting the ECU and TCU resets any soft mileage done during break back to factory.
Are you saying the engine is actually breaking in better by beating on it? I have never seen data to backup this theory.
Driving the car nice and letting it break in slowly doesn’t hurt a thing. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hi guys, OP just want to ask how much fun you have after the magic 1000 miles, not ask how to break in a car, which we have so many posts and end up a fight at the end with no exception.,., Just relax a bit and enjoy your ride. World peace….

What data do you have to backup this claim of better performance? Did you buy two of the same car and beat on one and drive the other nice and then dyno compare them?

I was saying is if your going to go beyond the opinion and start stating facts "You get better performance" I want to see the results. Trust me, I would be happy to get results either way and put this baby to rest.
As to the OP: After the 1k mark just have fun. I tend to just cruise and listen to her rumble. I enjoy the slight backfire coming up to a light. I love the growl of the cold start in the morning. All of these things bring a smile to my face. Getting on an entrance ramp and looking down and seeing 80 in mere seconds also has the same result.

fair enough i'll give my two best. my 1980 camaro six banger could beat my friends identical camaro small block v8. he babied his and i drove mine hard as she would go i would beat him buy a car length every time
2. i beat 2000 Camaro SS with my little s2000. he ask if i had a turbo when we stopped. I was bone stock and beat him buy half a car. he should have kicked my butt but i was beating every other S2000 in San Antonio by 3-5 car lengths i was kicking her all the way up to the 9K revs right out of the show room and every day i owned her. No disrespect toward your Camaro at all. the guy was very cool about it and congratulated me for having the fasted s2000 he had ever seen
i also had an slk55 that could stomp a yellow cobra mustang pushing 390 hp compared to my 355 he also asked if i had a turbo, he was crushed when i told him it was stock and it only had nine hundred hard miles on it.
i also have a volvo story and pickup truck story but you probably be bored by those.
i cant call this proof. but i can call it credible conjecture.
Sorry if i flamed you a little on my previous thread. i was a little late on my lithium and geodon
sorry to highjack this thread vita hope you enjoy the power of your beast.

This morning I started engine and drove normally about 10 mins. After the engine oil temp hit 176 and I stopped at an entrance ramp (perfect timing) and shift to manual mode
When the light turned to green, you know what happened… It was so quick to reach 80 and I had to step on brake.…man….an say I am really happy…totally worth it…I can’t remember when I was so happy to work last time.
