Everyone keeps mentionong that the M3 shines on the track and the C63 falls behind it, I have had my car on the track a few times and both time there was a E92 coupe and he couldnt keep pace, I dont have the PP as it wasnt offered yet for 2008, so moral of the story is, if the M3 driver doesnt know how to utilize his FULL potential of this marginally better "track car, then the C63 is still king. I am willing to bet that more than half of the M3 drivers have little or no track experience hence the false impressions of having a better track car is a useless analogy. The better track times that the E92 has proven is due to the same driver who has tonnes of experience, again, a useless analogy in real life where light to light action is where it really counts....Mike that is a great kill, passenger or sunroof, who cares, there are no excuses on the street.

Great kill, and props for you both deciding to not race in traffic.
The M3 is a much different car than the C63. A scalpel versus a bigass sledgehammer. There are applications for both, and 99% of the time I prefer the sledgehammer. Gotta admit the M3 V8 is a honey of an engine though. Buttery smooth, linear, perfect for track use, and a willing, powerful compliment to the M3's chassis.
I'm a MBZ guy but I wouldn't kick an M3 out of my garage.

That scalpel vs. Sledgehammer comparo reminds me of something in Top Gear...hahaha. A K2 C63 would be trouble all in its own. Great kill OP!

Another thing to add was the relatively nonexistent exhaust noise of the S65 V8. The C63 exhaust clearly drowned out the M3's.
I wonder how I would have fared against a Lexus IS-F. I ran into one guy who was taking picture of his car once next to mine and we talked for a half hour about cars. I should have asked him if he wanted to run but I never did. I'm assuming it be another victory for the AMG.

Honestly, I dont track my car, so the M3 made no sense. I wanted something with torque and fun for daily driving. The M3 just doesnt have the torque(push) that I wanted to feel. I enjoyed revving it up, but I knew in time, I would want something else. The C63 was perfect for me. As you stated, how many people are actually tracking their cars anways. I know there are people that do, but the majority doesn't.

2014 CTS-V (6spd, phantom grey), 2010 Cadillac Escalade ESV (black raven)
I don't usually have the baby seat in my car, but my wife's SUV got in an accident and is getting fixed ($14,000 worth of damages).
If it was a good looking Asian guy driving, yes, it was me...
Where are you in Jersey?

to OP (MikeG C63 AMG) I just moved up to NJ from Chicago. I was dealing with Eurocharged/LET in Chicago and was wondering if you had a good aftermarket shop in this area...
sorry to threadjack. IMO C63>E92M3
Also, I think from my understanding from talking to a buddy of mine who does car reviews. BMW is planning by 2011 to reduce the size of their engines by 2 cylinders and TT almost everything... now if only MB would follow suit... I want to see a 6.3V8 TT....

Actually I don't. I heard of Rogue Engineering in Ho Ho Kus but I think they only deal with BMW's. I myself am looking for a trusted MB shop in the area.

I just found these videos of a stock C63 vs E92 M3 DCT......... (recently uploaded)
The results I thought were pretty surprising. There is definetly alot of tire squealing but I didn't think the M3 would hold up as well as it did.

The M3 is a nice car, its well balanced and sounds amazing. It is lacking in the torque department no so much b/c the engine is weak but simply b/c the car is overweight compared to previous generations. If the E92 M3 was the same weight as the E36 M3 it would be a completely different story, it would be an AMG slayer.
With that said, in a straight line its not THAT fast. Any C55, CLK55, SLK55 (NA 55 AMG) w/ stage 3+ AMS Perf pack car (headers, pulley, software) can beat them in a straight line. It doesn't take that much. Furthermore, during the shifts you won't lose any ground either since the auto is still applying some power between gears, so although DCT shifts faster, its not necessarily a huge advantage like some would think (from a roll at least). From a stand still w/ launch control, different scenario completely.
However, that's a bit of an unfair comparison since its not stock vs. stock. But for the money, any older AMG with some decent NA mods can hang with them for 1/3rd the cost. Also, Older 55AMGs are now in the mid 20s or less. You don't need a 6.3L to do the job, the old 5.5s do just fine (especially since they have a substantial weight advantage). Just some food for thought.
