MCT vs DCT?
hey guys i know that the sl63 has the much desired MCT transmission but i noticed that the SLS has the DCT transmission. Can someone clarify the exact differences please?
Also, is it possible that either of these would fit in our C63s? If so i would seriously cosider swapping the current transmission out for a much faster one.
Thanks in advance for all of your answers!

The DCT is rear mounted (by the diff, AKA transaxle), so that's not an option at all.

You can go on You tube and see the differences between the Mercedes "Speedshift" transmission and the BMW SMG2 and Porsche PDK.
The "speedshift" looks like a conventional planetary geartrain automatic that uses a wet startup clutch rather than the conventional torque converter.
The SLS looks more like a multi clutch split gearbox basically like the Porsche PDK.

2009 C63
DCT is faster than the MCT. MCT is a newer version of the 7G-Tronic which is coupled to a mechanical clutch instead of a torque converter, thereby enhancing shift speed and fuel economy.
I guess the C63 will use the MCT when it be facelift.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Anyways I asked my tech and service mang for this if it's possible. He toled me NO. They both did. Good luck

I've noticed the 7G-MCT shifts "firmly", compared to a regular 7G slushbox and to BMW SMG (non-M). I was able to do smoother shifts on the BMW SMG, compared to the C63.
I'm not really complaining; it's just an observation.
