Something is wrong there...are you sure that's the RENNtech "stage 3?" Doesn't the stage 3 have DPs and their larger volume carbon fiber intake/drop-in air filters as well as their stage 2 ecu flash? Not that I'm doubting you personally, but I have just the RENNtech Stage 2 ecu flash and just happened to get my car dyno'd today @ RENNtech. Here are my "stage 2" results (which are almost identical -- stock and tuned -- to your posted "stage 3" dyno results)...

https://mbworld.org/forums/3721215-post51.html

From my post today...

"Finally got back to RENNtech today to have them dyno my RENNtech stage 2 C63 AMG. They were even nice enough to flash it back to stock for baseline dyno numbers and then reflash it again to the stage 2 ecu flash. The temp was ~ 92 degrees F / ~ 68% R.H. and they had 1 large fan blowing toward the engine. Anyway, here are the numbers ...

C63 AMG Stock baseline: 366.82WHP / 353.83 lb.-ft. RWTQ

C63 AMG RENNtech stage 2 ecu flash: 411.82WHP (+45WHP) / 368.29 lb.-ft. RWTQ (+14.46 lb.-ft. RWTQ)

Assuming 20% drivetrain loss, then it would mean:

C63 AMG Stock baseline: 459HP / 442 lb.-ft. RWTQ (fairly close to MB's advertised 451HP / 443 lb.-ft. TQ )

C63 AMG RENNtech stage 2 ecu flash: 515HP / 460 lb.-ft. RWTQ!!!!!
Although the 'after ecu flash' TQ seems a bit low, the HP # is exactly what I had expected; I'm very happy with the RENNtech ecu flash tune...great job, RENNtech!!!"

Why were they dyno'd in different gears?

FWIW, it looks like the Renntech Stage 3 car doesn't net any meaningful improvement over stock until you're above 4,500 rpms - but from there on it's noticeably better.

Ok, so am I correct about the added mods on the RENNtech stage 3 vs. my stage 2 ecu flash?

And what do you think of my RENNtech C63 dyno that was done today vs. the RENNtech C63 dyno on that car you did today?

Where did you get that from? this is same gear to same gear, same starting rpm almost to the .000 we always compare apples to apples, take another peek at the chart.

Brian, why all the mystery...just discuss and tell us what you're thinking here, especially in light of my dyno.

?? NO mystery, however after much debate, I think the ECU needs to be sent back to Renntech to see what's cookin, it should have made more power.

The other factor, is our dyno is very stingy, what I mean is that a lot of shops play with the settings a bit to make things look better than they actually are, we don't/cannot even if we tried, as our software config is locked.

My stock (and tuned) numbers from today (at the RENNtech shop) were almost identical to the stock (and tuned) numbers on the dyno you posted; however, like I said, I have the stage 2 ecu flash only. What other mods does that "stage 3" car have? I believe it includes DPs and their intake/filters, no?

If so, then, it could be either the ecu flash or the other mods not making more HP/TQ. My dyno was what I was expecting in terms of HP increase; my TQ was a tad low, but not horrible by any means...and I dyno'd in 92 degree F / 68% R.H. weather with 1 large fan blowing on the engine.

Ok, since Brian won't answer my question about the "other supporting mods" on RENNtech's C63 stage 3, I just looked at their Web site and it lists the following:

ECU 1 upgrade
ECU 2 upgrade (which is what I have )
Package 1 - ECU upgrade 2 + intake
Package 2 - ECU upgrade 2 + SS headers (DPs)
Package 3 - ECU upgrade 2 + intake + SS headers (DPs) + sound pipe mod

http://www.renntechmercedes.com/c.php

So, here's the real question for Brian...which RENNtech ecu upgrade and/or package did the C63 AMG have that you dyno'd? If his answer is not ECU 2 upgrade, then, something is not right.

Okay, I've taken another peek at the chart. And I saw the same thing I saw the first time - something's wrong with the modded dyno run.

When viewing engine rpms on the x axis, HP and TQ have to cross at 5252 rpm. Not "should," not "ballpark" - have to. Which they appear to do, on the stock run. On the modded run, they cross at 5500 - so something's wrong - my guess was a gearing ratio discrepancy, but I suppose it could be something else wrong instead...

Something is not not right with his dyno since I got nearly identical numbers (stock and ecu flash tuned) with just the RENNtech ecu 2 upgrade (I call it "stage 2" although RENNtech has 2 ecu "upgrades" plus 3 "packages" as I listed in post #13).

Brian Thank you very much for the dyno runs. Your facility is very nice. The showroom is comfotable and has a bunch of mags, arcades and lots of framed articles on the walls that show how professional the company is. The "garage" section is super clean and packed with different cars (Lotus, Audi, a lot of Japanese tuned cars, as I understood Jap cars, specialy Mitsubishi's (3000GT), are GT PRO's speciality ). The DYNO itself is installed in the floor (looks professional and very safe). Overall the facility is awesome. Brian is a really nice guy and I had a very good time hanging out at GT PRO.

It is Package 3 as sflgator said.
- CF airbox
- Headers
- ECU 2
- Sound mod (2ry cat removed)

I'm also kind of sad about the numbers. I mean, I'm a realist and I was expecting 430ish even though Renntech lists 555 crank for Pack 3 (555 / 18% is around 450ish) but it is what it is.
Since I bought the car tuned from a renntech dealer I might as well talk to the owner and maybe he can recommend something.
I think 414whp is a good result for a tune only but with all the other mods it looks low.

Anyway, Thank you members for your comments and special Thanks to Brian for making this head to head DYNO run.

I think you should call the guys @ RENNtech directly, and considering (with just the RENNtech ecu 2 upgrade only) I just got almost identical dyno numbers (dyno'd today in fact), both stock and tuned, I can understand why you might be a little frustrated as your car should definitely make more power with the added headers and airbox.

@ sflgator: Thank you for your advise. I heard that Renntech has outstanding customer service.
You definetly have a big plus being very close to their facility I think that you made a great choice going "local".
I saw your DYNO post, congrats on your numbers, they look very nice.
Are you planning on adding something else from Renntech?

Thanks; no other mods planned, other than 2 BMC drop-in air filters at some point. I also think you should re-dyno on another day to see if the numbers are similar or point to some sort of anomaly. G/L on getting some answers.

So what happened between 3100rpm and 4300rpm?, that is significantly less power than stock. Please don't take it personal but the numbers are low, specially the torque values. I don't even want to know how much a Renntech Stage II is but I am sure like $3000 or more..the gains don't justify the price.

Also, look at this dyno, it makes total sense to me:
https://mbworld.org/forums/3721215-post51.html

Your dyno numbers don't make any sense, you are loosing power from 3100rpm to 4300rpm.

Not that I did not want to answer your questions, I kinda of missed that, and then I really had to get going (my daughters first Varsity game of the year, and I was already running late LOL) But thanks for looking it up and clarifying this, I appologize I did not catch your question in it's entirety, and respond as quickly as I would have liked to.

I think the dyno runs are comparing one stock C63 to a different Renntech "package 3" C63. So they're not before/after dynos of the same car - I didn't get that at first either.

Still haven't heard from Brian on how the Renntech C63's hp/tq curves magically cross at 5500 rpm on GT PRO's dyno. -michael-, have you considered dyno'ing elsewhere to confirm/validate the results?

No prob; I understand. I think that there's got to be something wrong with Michael's dyno though, given my 'almost identical' numbers with just the RENNtech ECU2 flash tune. I think you should give Michael another dyno and he should call the guys @ RENNtech if the numbers are similar the 2nd time around.
