Race ported heads from MHP going on tomorrow!!
Good Afternoon,
Can't stand it any longer. The first set of race ported heads from MHP are going on the car tomorrow. I will post pics as they go on. The porting is definitely top notch and will produce good power gains all across the curve!! As soon as we get some time on them I will get her back on the dyno. We are having to put the stock sticks back in this time because the new grinds are not complete yet. The good part is it will give us numbers on what just the heads are worth. Stay tuned!!

Can't wait to see what kind of 1/4 mile times come out of this coupled with new cams. Great to see what exact gains the heads themselves give as well since stock cams are going back in. Keep us posted!

Did they do any glueing as well? You often need to add material when you open up the ports to keep the velocity up, otherwise you could lose a chunk of low and midrange...especially until you get those new bump sticks installed.
I'd love to see a data sheet from the flow bench. Do you have one you can post?

My only concern is that LET tried this on a C32 with VERY little/NO gain. I REALLY do hope this works out, however I am concerned that AMG would have left that much on the table as they are at the penical of the game
Good luck my friend

He didn't start on it until lunch. There was only ONE left head gasket in the entire US and we now have it. Actually only two right and we have one of them. Only one set of head bolts in the US and we have them as well. Obviously MB doesn't plan to do any head swaps on these 6.2's!! HA! HA!
I will run by the shop tomorrow morning and take some pics and post up.
I understand your concerns about AMG and the heads already being excellent but someone has to try it. If we don't gain power then we don't gain power. Who knows, it may take new bump sticks to utilize these heads but we'll know soon and thats what we all are waiting for. I feel like its Christmas!!

Also, the AMG link is the same, but the platforms couldn't be any more different - F/I, 3 valve per cylinder, 3.2L V6... vs. N/A, 4 valve per cylinder, 6.2L V8.
Overall, I think we're all pulling for the OP to make some serious gains with these - look forward to the dyno/track results!

They sure look faster. Didn’t read of their before and after flow bench figures on AD though.
I’d enjoy whittling away on those pricey aluminum castings anytime.
Followed that up with some Serdi seat and valve reconfiguring work – who knows?
Trust you’ll report back with some healthy trap speed improvements.

Update.
This process is incredibly complicated. HOLY CRAPP!!
I went by the shop last night and they are waiting for the cam plates before completing the disassembly. They are plates/brackets that hold the cams in place while completing the removal of the timing chains etc.... I have lots of pictures and no one has removed a 6.2 series head that I know of so its a tedious virgin process. Be patient because its worth the wait. The good news is this shop now has the plates to replace the new sticks when they arrive and replacing the sticks will be much easier!!!! Hang in there and I think they will be done the first of next week. When you see pics you will understand. Have a great weekend!!

Update pictures. Hopefully it will be done late today.
I know they are lousy pictures but I took them with my phone. Better pics will come later. The mechanic has my camera and has been taking pictures step by step. Can't wait!!!!
