I also have the C63 PP and the LSD option. As most everyone stated, only the LSD requires the fluid change at 2k miles. I just had mine done and it was expensive @$251.92! That is about what I used to pay for the oil change on my previous ISF (9.6 quarts of Mobile 1 Synthetic). Anyway, not to hijack this thread, but the fluid PN used is 001-989-52-03-10 transm. oil MB so I hope it is the correct stuff.

quaife isnt a clutch type differential like the factory performance package one, it's a torsen type. So no need to change fluid any more frequently.

After the initial 2,000 mile oil change then it is changed at every 40,000 miles
If you know how to jack up a car and know how to remove two oil plugs then you can easily do this yourself. If you don't have a clue what any of that is then maybe you should not attempt it

My e46 had the tranny and diff changed at 1200 miles
The lsd was a sealed clutch pack not open to the diff fluid
All gears wear more initially until they mate up
Modern maching minimizes this but can't hurt (other than the wallet) lol
Do it 2000 and not again for 50-60k miles
Maybe 3000

The ring and pinion is already broken in but the wavetrac has a bunch of stufff in it

I think you guys are a little confused about this service requirement. The oil change at 2,000 miles is for initial wear for the new LSD Differential clutch plates.

As far as DIY is concerned, I can definitely remove 2 drain plugs. Not sure I want to Mityvac and prewarm and do some of the other stuff that I've seen around the forums that may be required to change oil, diff fluid, etc. Although after I've paid a couple of dealer service bills my attitude may change . I've got about 2/3 of a clue, I guess...

jcfay,
If you plan on owning a Mercedes for a long period of time and want to do more of your own maintenance then investing in a MB DAS Xentry setup so you can diagnose and monitor the systems on your car
I plan on only driving Mercedes from this point on and it is an invaluable tool.
