New Owner Question?

Hi,

Just picked up my new C63 today, wow, what a noise!! Amazing car, can't get rid of this smile....

Couple of questions, how do you import your names and numbers from your mobile phone? I am running an iPhone?

The 1800 miles service to have the LSD oil changed, is this free of charge in the UK?

Many thanks

D

It's not possible to import contacts from iPhone to the CMMAND interface as of yet. According to MB, it's a defect with Apple's software, not theirs. So hopefully a firmware update for the iPhone in the future will fix this.

Is there any way to export Outlook contact onto a USB device or the PC Card slot?

Can I temporarily pair another type of phone and import contacts from that device then go back to my iPhone with the all contacts still in the address book?

Do I really have to add them manually?

Many thanks

Yes, if you have another cell phone with all the same contact info as that of your iPhone, you can pair that other phone with the car, and send all those contacts to the COMAND system and it will still be there even if you decide to use your iPhone instead. You can pair more than one phone with your car's Bluetooth interface, and unlike most other cars on the market, the Bluetooth system on the MB doesn't pull your cell phone's contacts list every time it's paired up. The MB's system stores them onto the hard drive.

Some people like this. Some don't.

Sounds good, does a blackberry work in this way? I have an old one I could sync with Outlook and then the C63?

I guess BB will do fine, though I'd say that windows mobile phones are the easiest. I'm also running an Iphone, but to tranfer the contacts, I used a windows mobile based phone. Command is 100% compatible with windows mobile and it was a piece of cake. As Sebring said, the contacts are stored on the cars hard drive.

From personal experience, though, I can say I'm not a big fan of COMMAND in general, specially when it comes to the phone interface. It is complicated - it is not very "user-friendly" - to guide through the menus and pick the contact to call.

If I were you, I'd just pair the iphone and use it, not the COMMAND, to dial. You - supposedly - will be at a red light when dialing a number, anyway. Iphone has a much more friendly interface. You can even buy an Iphone support and stick it somewhere to look cool.

Although, I understand your need to import the contacts. That was the second thing I did when I got the car (the first was to check the name of the master engineer on the engine...haha!).

You can transfer you contacts in Vcard format onto a flash card and import it using the flash card slot in the head unit. That's what I did. I wonder if the updated Command for 2010 fixed this issue. I heard you can now control an iPod on the Command screen for 2010, is that right?

Agreed. Command is in the dark ages.

If you have the iPhone 3GS, just use the dial by voice feature on your phone.
