I looked into complete engines in the Subaru World. I found that the specialty engines when bought whole, don't add much to the already expensive brand new engine.

What I'm trying to say is that if someone decides they want to spend and buy a whole engine, compare prices with the M159, may be $2-300 more. Of course this would be the subject of a whole new thread, but I think that the ECU of a M156, will run a M159 and require only a tune to run the M159 very well.
