is oil usage dependent on driving style

i had to put in a quart after 1450 miles of local driving. but then i had to put in a quart after 850 miles of 90-110 mph long trip. is this normal?

That sounds excessive, event at 90-110 the RPMs aren't that high.

I've been burning a quart about every 2000 miles.

If you drive it like you stole it then you would be putting a lotta oil in your car

smart man, the owners manual said that the indicator comes on at a critical level. the only time i had it come on was when i had the car a few months and 3500 miles and it took three quarts to get it to full on the dip stick.

the oil light came on at about 4k miles, but that was with some spirited driving. I've been driving it harder since and no oil is needed, I'm at 8k now.

Untrue for me. I drive the **** out of mine. I've only had to put oil in it once in 22K KMs.

During break-in I was down 1 qt after 2k miles. Driving "normally" thereafter (generally more aggressive throttle application) I am using 1 qt (M1 5W-40 ESP) every 800+ miles.
