I apologize if it came off that I was 'arguing.' I was just curious because we all know the competitiveness of tuners and the wide range of pricing for tunes and bolt-ons, etc.. And when you get two cars running close with a n/a motor that is expensive to mod and also not easy, then we all are interested in dollar per performance issues.

jrcart has (in the past) said that money is no object and so it's good to use his experience as a base, I think. And if MHP is putting out either less or more expensive mods to get to the same point than other tuners, that's worthwhile to note. With your car, we know what you've done, but I wasn't sure what jrcart has done (and it changed a lot in the past, iirc.)

And yeah, thumbs up to both of you, of course.

Actually this part of your car is more interesting to me personally. I do a lot of DEs and AXs with the PCA and that's where my interest is. My E63 is simply a DD. But I'd like to someday consider an AMG of some kind for real driving and road racing. Can't afford a real DTM of course but I'd consider a BS or any other AMG chassis that was workable.

Jim, if you re-read my post, you will notice that I never wrote the words "heavily modded"..... only you did! What I mentioned in my post was that his car was simply "less" modded. I was not talking about engine mods only, I was referring to overall mods. You have probably done more overall mods to your car than anyone else on this site.... granted some of the mods were for handling, some were for 1/4 mile, some were cosmetic, some were power mods, and some were for weight-saving. But regardless of purpose, they were all still mods. I was giving Keith props for getting close to your times with a heavier car and relatively less overall mods, but then all of a sudden you turned it into a pissing contest - again. The head work is definitely a more intensive mod compared to others but (as I understand) has only gained 15 to 20 rwhp on the dyno, which leaves the rest of the power to be found in the other parts/mods.

I honestly believe, which I'm sure you'll agree, that Keith could've ran 11.1 or 11.0 had he ran MT tires or at least had more than 1 run in during the entire event, which makes his pass an even more amazing one. Anyways, you both have incredibly quick/fast super ultimate cars and props to both of you for such amazing numbers on the 63 platform

It's time we all start to agree that what you spend on your car is not near as important as the amount of satisfaction that you extract from it. Keith and Jim are both pushing the 63 motor to higher and higher performance levels and obviously enjoying every single minute behind the wheel. That is all that really matters.

I have never enjoyed a car as much as my C63. I've made many trips down the 1/4 mile, been to a couple road course DE's with another 2 weeks away, spent time with other car nuts that get together as Orlando Automotive Club and shared lots of stories with members on this forum. From my perspective every dime invested in my car, is money well spent for the reasons just stated.

PS. Damn good job Keith.......now we need to focus on getting mine down a couple hundreds at least to knock the Rennteck car off the second place podium.

SL65 BLACK CANT??I don't think a 304thousand car can't beat u in handling they made it after the clk so they made it better and better.The handling staff on the SL65 Bk is worth c63 price..i believe that a 30thousand mitsubishi car will beat u in handling department and i think u know what i mean...And i want to make sure is the race on?last weekend of feb?

I will go back and pull the receipts and see what all these mods will cost you. You guys get the benefit of our R&D so you only need to purchase the final products. I will advise but I believe its all less the $20,000-$25,000.

BTW my Charger cost 40K and with 15K in speed mods I've hit 11.23@122MPH with stock-block N/A 6.1 Hemi. Yes, it is still a Dodge though so you got me there:-)

Thanks, this is good of you to post this stuff. It's all very educational esp with this motor and the limited (and therefore expensive) resources out there.

Why not share all kinds of info. There's no reason not to; it's not a pissing match and never should be. It's just a community of AMG owners wanting to show the rest of the world what can be done with this platform.

I love modifying cars and doing 1/4 mile racing, but the costs for the aftermarket for the C63 just drive me away from that.

I wanted a new project to replace my Whipple 03 Cobra, so it was either mod the C63 and get a new daily driver, or buy something else to mod. After reading posts like these it makes me feel better about my decision.

Props to both of you guys for pushing the 63 motor down the 1/4 so quick ! Makes me jealous !
