Why is it that there isnt a power source to tap into in the headliner?

On both my previous two cars (RRS and M3) I was able to order the kit from Escort and tap into a wire through the sunroof panel -

I'm sure there is a switched 12V source there. I chose to use the power outlet in the glove box for this install based on the easy access.

how did you hide the wire on the way to the glove box? can you clip it to the visor?

I would like to see some pictures of how you hid the wire down the A pillar please. I understand how to get it behind the cloth/rubber gasket, but I would like to see the transition from the headliner to the cloth/rubber gasket. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, hfc. I don't have a photo. All I did at the transition is pull the A-pillar out far enough so I could get the flat wire to lay behind the cover up top. I popped it out and popped it in. Not much to it.

my passport power source is via a telephone jack cord - the plug is what you would see on a phone -

Is yours the same?

I did the same as superlube except mine is on the left of the rearview mirror.
Also, be careful if you are using a telephone cord as an extension (instead of paying more for the extension from Escort). Make sure you find an RJ11 cord where then pins aren't crossed over.

OK, I've searched high and low inside the interior. I even pulled off the panel on the driver's side of the dashboard. There is no fuse box there in the C63. I believe in a non-AMG W204 there is one, but certainly not in my car.

mrc63jg, can you confirm where you wired yours?

Decided on the Laser Interceptor Quad (Gen 8) instead of the Blinder M47.

You have to love a company that uses a C63 AMG on the cover of their packaging. Cliff Crane, the US Distributor for Laser Interceptor, happens to own a C63!

I also did the same install with the 9500i plugged into the cig. lighter, however when I start the car up the 9500 says low voltage and then shuts it self off. I assume this is because the car is actually in the process of starting. It doesn't do it all the time I guess it depends on how long it takes to start. If it does shut down I can manually turn it on. Any ideas on why it would do this or how to fix it to find a 12 volt source that is constant during cranking.

I have never experienced this issue. Have you tried the 12 volt source in the ashtray to see if it does the same thing?

It could very well be your car's battery or it may be the detector.

Check out and ask at http://escortradarforum.com/forums/

The folks there may have a suggestion.

Detector Placement

I have two V-1, two 9500iXs and one Redline. I am a frequent poster on RD.net and first let me say, Nice install. Big problem, however is that you'll get no rear LIDAR coverage nor front due to the HIGH placement of the unit. Lidar hits are on the front /bottom of the car, usually from the Front plate out or the headlights in, wherever they can get a "fix." To the rear, its usually the rear plate since thats always on a car and an easy target. They will also go for the tailights as well. Usually Lidar hits are ticket "notifiers" anyway, so it may be moot. (unless you're using LI countermeasures and Veil Coating as well). Radar tends to travel high, so your're in the best position for that. LIDAR and you're toast. It'll probably be OK for radar BUT not good at all for Lidar!

That Unit above, LI is all the SH** !! Great selection. Watch for placement, that is key to any LIDAR Jamming Unit. Of course you're using this for a parking sensor correct?? 2head is about 800 and a 4 head is about 1200 (4 head is for front and rear, 2 head for front only) Ask Vic C32used on the C32 forums about rear hits!!

The only question I have for Cliff is HOW can it Jam an unknown signal if its unknown???

Umm, there is no problem at all. This placement is optimal for radar detection. Yes this is moot and why I'm using dedicated laser countermeasures.

You can also find me on RD.net under the same name.

I figured as much Super!!! I am selling my two 9500iXs, anyone interested please PM me. One is red display , the other is Blue. I am selling because I have too many units. The 9500Ix are also GPS enabled for redlight cams etc.

BTW, that LI is really a very good unit. Send some photos after the install. Did you get rear units from Cliff as well??
