How did everyone who got the AMG pins screw it down? I tried to hand tighten but it reached a point that it will not turn anymore but it is still sticking out when in locked position. Don't want to use a plier and scratch the metal finish.

I wrapped the pin in one finger of my work glove then used pliers to torque it down

Installed my back locks today. It is a quick and easy change, no more than 5 minutes.

Its that easy
ok so I was messing around with the rears today - wen you pulle up, will you feel it lift up and then you twist counter clockwise? Or do you just twist as you pull up?

Pull up. As it starts to come off just s lttle twist helps it separate and release from the underpin

Just my luck when I finally made up my mind to order!

Got mine done yesterday - thanks guys for all the help

For those yet to try it, very easy. I couldnt get a grip on the fronts to twist so I wrapped them in a towel and use pliers to twist them off. Fronts screw right on (although I had trouble with one side...it didnt want to twist much the first 2 tries but the third time I got them both to the same height)

As for the rear, they just pop right off. I didnt even twist. Theyre held in by just a little ball socket. I wrapped it in the towel and used the pliers just pulling straight up.

i chose NOT to use any glue to hold down the rears because I want to remove them to sell wen I get rid of the car.

Hint - as someone else said, unlock the doors - but also roll down your windows, you'll have more room to work with.

All in all 10 minutes.

Also, for the rears - wen u put them on, push down and lock it to secure it down.

Its an expensive mod considering how small the parts are, but well worth it imo.

one of my rear door pins keeps popping off when i unlock the doors? any ideas? i pressed it down really firm, but pops off after about 3 times of unlocking. do the front pins go inside the door in the locked position? or do you just not screw them down as far?

I think some people used some sort of glue or something for the rears maybe ?? I want to remove mine later so I didnt. But mine also didnt pop off. I installed then in the unlock position then pushed down to hopefully secure it.

as for the fronts - unlock the doors, unscrew oem pins. then screw down in unlock position. It should stop or start to get tight about 3/4ths of the way down

ok, i will probably put some super glue on the rears. but when i lock my front doors the pins are recessed deep inside the door. it looks kinda weird. are you guys just not screwing them down that far to keep them flush with the door?

oh thats not what you want - at most u want them flush. Mine both kind of started getting tight about 70% of the way down. In lock position mine stick out about .25". It dopesnt bother me that way since i never rest my arm on the door and I didnt want to force it and strip the threading. U might want to unscrew them some (unless its really loose).

U might want to try something less permanent...i bet something rubbery or filler might do the trick. Just because you wont be able to take them off later and sell em if u choose not to keep the car. I plan on re-couping at least 50% on these.

How do you manage to align the amg logo facing you when you install the front ones? Any photos, hints and tips for the front ones? Thanks

I've installed two sets of these pins now. The fronts are easy to screw down and to align the logo to your preference. To install the rear pins is even easier. In the unlock position align the logo and push down on the new pin. You will feel a slight "pop." Lock the door and push down on the pin once more...you will feel a second "pop" and the pin is now seated...it's that simple. Do not glue it, it's absolutely not necessary!
