I noticed that you went with 275 for the rears. Are you using the stock rims?

I have the PS2 on the rear now but used the MT ET Streets when I went to the drag last weekend..

With the MT's under hard acceleration you can feel the rear grab the road so much so that the front end raises up.

They are also much lighter than the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec.

NT05
245/40-18 = 25lbs
275/35-18 = 28lbs

Star Spec
245/40-18 = 27lbs
275/35-18 = 32lbs
Wow.

I didn't think there was such a big wieght difference possible for two tires that are the same size.

Would that mean that one is less resistant to punctures or has less tread depth??

The Star Specs have taller tread for sure. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the weight or how it would impact puncture resistance.

A good on track review between the two -> http://www.trackhq.com/forums/showpo...95&postcount=1

It may be a typo in the Tire Rack database seeing that the Dunlop 265/35 is 28 lbs.

Could be.

1010Tires has the same 32-lb weight in their catalog -> http://www.amazon.com/35R18-Dunlop-D.../dp/B002RMT96A

Thanks for the great review link "super"

Just by looking at the thread, you would expect the nitto nt 05 to outperform the dunlop star spec by quite a margin...when in fact it didn't.

Star spec look quite amazing.

That may be because the temperature was 37-40 degrees? The driver preferred the feel of the nt05

Thanks again for the link "super"

Wow those nt-o5 really stick.

Just wondering with their shalow tread how they would perform for a DD car (my C63) when it's wet versus the star spec?

Would the nt-05 be all over the place when it's wet?

I found a lot of good info by just Googling "NT05 Review."

Many were quite happy with the performance in the rain. Some not so much.

I'll know first hand in a few weeks when my wheels get here.

I'm with you guys. I was debating between a few options including the Dunlops and the Nittos. I've decided on the Nitto NT05 as well. The price on them is quite good too.

I live in a cooler climate, it gets warm during the days, hot some days too in the summer, but the temperature drops dramatically at night. So, I need a tire that has good grip at lower temps. Any recommendations?

I'm in Montreal so cooler climate too.

Nitto nt05 looks awesome but not so sure about late night spring and fall driving.

But is it possible that even in colder temperature, 40s 50s, the nitto would grip better that a high performance 4 season tire like the michelin pilot sport a/s plus?

I have used the Toyo RA1's on the street and the track and have been extremely happy. I think they have the grip of the sport cups with longer tread life. You can go with 245's on the front and 275's on the rear.

Just had the Nitto NT05s installed today. I will post a review with photos by the end of the week but my initial impressions are extremely positive thus far. There's a noticeable improvement in traction, especially from a dig.

I went with 275/35/18. The fronts have a good amount of life left in them but I will replace them with 245/40/18 when the time comes.

See above.

I may add 15 and 12 mm spacers front and rear to push the tires out to the fender. The stock offsets are a bit too conservative IMO.

I have a pair of Dunlop direzza star spec z1 tires that i was going to sell next month when i purchased new 4 tires. Reason for wanting to sell them is because i want something that will last longer, and i don't believe i need the performance characteristics of this tire.

I hardly used them and they have plenty of tread left. I need to measure them to see exactly how much tread they have.

If anyone is interested please PM me and ill measure the tread and give you the details.
They should no doubt be less than 80%.

Size : 275/35/18

No repairs done to them.

thanks.

NT05s rock! I have not run the star specs, but ran NT05s last Summer and currently have a set on my OE wheels for track days. They are great street tires, but I'm going to replace them with Pilot Sport Cups or Yoko AO48s for the track.
