Toyo T1R's vs Toyo R888's

Does anybody have experience with these two different Toyo Tires?

I am currently running 275 x 35 18's in the rear and they are worn enough to warrant replacement.

My current T1R's after 11,000 miles need to be replaced and I'm trying to decide between these two Toyo tires.

Grip, longevity, etc comments would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Phil

They are completely different tires. The T1Rs are a summer UHP tire while the R888s are pretty much a street legal competition tire. You won't get much longevity at all out of the R888s if you decide to use them on a regular, daily driving basis. However, they will grip better in the dry than the T1R but I'm sure that's not your only concern. Overall, I would say get another set of T1Rs if you were happy with them, or go for another similar UHP tire.

I had the T1R's on my C55 for several months before I sold the car and it gets very very noisy after a while.

Just my opinion but I would consider these three as a street tire biased more towards performance but with tolerable longevity.

Dunlop Star Spec (running now)
Nitto NT05
Bridgestone RE-11

blackbenzz: What kind of mileage could I expect on the R888's? 10K miles, 8K Miles, 5K or less?

Appreciate your earlier reply!!!

I use the Toyo R888 as a track tire on my corvette, they are simply awesome for the intended use, I will drive to the track and then back home on them, they are so great I will often leave them on the car for a few days, I do not really drive the car on the street much but love them on the street. They are so sticky I would guess 1000 to 1500 miles would about be it.

How did you get 11K miles out of T1-Rs? I've run them as well as several other brands and never saw more than 4K miles from a set of rears. R888s I would expect no more than 2K miles of life.
