tires, not what you think
ive been thinking about running either the nitto invos or nitto nt05 and was wondering whether i could run 285/35/18 i know 275's are the biggest recommended on a 9 inch rim but nittos run very slim and i think i read a while back that some c63 drivers have run nitto 285 rears. anyone have any input on this?
also do any of you guys have first hand experience with either the nitto invo's or nt05s that can give me advice?

NT05's are great for the track-going larger-you could run into some fitment issues (rolling is an easy fix)-the biggest thing I would see is that your simply running a tire thats too large for the rim-so you'll get more sidewall roll on turns-just for a little more contact patch for launchs-

The Nitto NT555R Drag Radial will fit in a 285/35-18. It does run narrow for it's width.
For all other tires, stick with a max of 275/35-18. The NT05 is an excellent choice.

285/35/18 would be 3.3% too tall, which maybe ok, but the wider and taller you go, the greater the chance you'll start tearing up something.
If you want a 285 tire, you should go with 285/30/18
If you want a 285 tire, you should go with 285/30/18

265 pilot sport cups = 10.9 inches wide
265 bridgestone re-11 = 10.7 inches
275 nitto nt05 = 10.7
275 hankook v12 evo = 10.9
275 dunlop direzza star spec = 11
i know that .2 inches may not seem like alot but as you can see the 265 pilot sport cups are the same exact size as the 275 hankooks. so there can be some 285's that run small that would be able to fit on our rim. im not exactly sure about height though, thats a whole different story
