MFest. A lot of people at Status wanted me to go. I actually got to meet the founder a few months back. I think his name was Chris or something. But if I go then there goes my lip money

That's what I thought. Pls let me know if you have a good shop that's reasonable on the $$$. This is something I need as I'd like to go to Pacific Raceways weekend after next for the 1/4, that is if I read the sked right.

EM, Lynnwood MB quoted me a price of $1650-$2000 for the install. They said it would take 3-4 days because the AMG Master tech is very **** about every nut and bolt. They've done some Kleemann kits before.

Just because the Master Tech likes ****, doesn't mean they can screw you in the *** too.....
How can they call him a "Master Tech" if it takes him 3-4 days to change a diff....
This is obviously a situation where you should take your car somewhere else
Imagine how long it takes him to pull a motor?
This is a $500-600 job at the most maximum

I believe they want the car for 3-4 days because they wont' be working on just one car for the entire day's shift (about 8-10 hours' worth of labor). That AMG tech also has other cars to tend to, not just mine. If it really was 3-4 days' labor, the rate would be exponentially higher than $1600...I believe their shop rate is around $125/hour or so.
But, you're right...it is probably cheaper elsewhere. We just have to find out where.

James also installed the following on my car:
Kleeman K2
lowered it with coilovers
painted emblems and grille
CF diffuser
Wider tires
Having him travel somewhere to do such work should there be enough customers/mods may work out for everyone.
For the record, I met James's girlfriend at his shop. Hence no "master tech" jokes for him.
While James charges an honest price, I think I contributed somewhat to his future families education fund with all of my mods.

I can vouch for James, he installed a quaife LSD on my c63 several months ago in one day. Leaving two tire tracks is so much more fun than leaving one. I just wish the police would agree.
