SLS AMG is mabye the Slowest sports car in its price range besides the DBS. 0-60 3.8 seconds, 0-99 7.8, 0-124 11.8.

The car's curb weight is 3570 pounds, Plus new intake system, aggressive valve timing, tubular steel headers and a de-throttled exhaust. 570hp 479tq. If they placed the SL65 engine in this car it would do 0-60 in 3.3,
0-99 in 7.0 and 0-124 in 10.5 and mabye even better lol.

DO u guys think that AMG did a mistake trying to show off there new engine in a real sports car?

I think the real measure of a sports car goes far beyond its 0-60 or 0-100 times. Those are important too, but they're not everything. How a car handles, its composure on different road surfaces, its ability to send feedback to the driver, its braking capabilities, they're all just as important (if not more important) as its acceleration in a straight line.

Honestly, I can't really tell the difference between a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds and a time of 3.8 seconds if I'm not holding a stopwatch.

Actually if you go by U.S. bhp rating will likely be closer to 561 bhp, but who's counting?

Give the car a chance to come out and prove itself. The C63 was announced to have 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds, but when it came out, many people have seen 3.9 seconds.

If you measure the size of your di#$ by 0-60 times sure there are better alternatives.

Interestingly enough the SLS just beat the Porsche Turbo 997.2 PKD and Audi R8 V10 around the Nordsleife.

SLS : 1:30,7s
Turbo PDK : 1:31,0s
R8 V10 : 1:32,0s

Man...the amount of JV posts in this forum is crazy...Every other thread is nothing more than discussions of published 0-60 times with ZERO real world first hand experience to back it up.
Yeah...AMG DID a big mistake in developing the SLS

Ok the SLS is great car if it was priced at 180k but if u walk into a dealer right now u wil put up 300k for a car that performs just as well as a 130k car. AMG should of done much better in my opinion, and peope for years been using 0-60 0-100 times against other cars to compare. 11.8@124 is not a very fast car for 300k. But if u want a gullwing that wont break down then buy this car lol

Wait till you drive the car. Maybe you'll want for nothing more by the time you've experienced it first-hand. I have friends who drove the car at the AMG event in Las Vegas recently and they came away completely stunned by just how impressive it was. Stop being obsessed by straight-line acceleration and you might actually find there are lots of cars out there that are worth admiring.

The price of the SLS will start just under $200k, how did you get $300k? Are you talking about the SL65 Black Series?

If you go by that comparison alone, doesn't the GTR and Z06 put a black eye on other expensive super cars?

Why are you guys bashing on the C63 people/forums? Just because you guys overpaid for your POSs, doesn't mean you should come in here hating.

The OP had a legit point...is the SLS really going to be worth the big tag it will carry? Is it really the best AMG could have made for the $$. What is wrong with those questions.

If you guys really had a life, you'd provide no feedback or constructive feedback...not just bash.

BREAK!

OP, I think there are a lot of intangibles to a car. For instance, the C63 has some competition easily in its price range. But what makes somebody by a car isn't always book numbers. There are a lot of high-priced imports that simply have nicer materials or prestige. Let's see what the SLS does once it is in circulation.

First off, why was this thread even posted in the C63 Sub-forum? And the OP owns an E550?

And that one "Crazy Night" thread was started by some kid who didn't even own a C63 and was posing as his friend.

It's clueless people who posts stupid and ignorant posts that are the blame for this subforum being everyone's "comic relief." Let's not lump all of the C63 owners into that category.

With that said...

Here we go...

Not jealous...just don't understand your M.O. You make cameos in a bunch threads talking smack for no real reason...Anyway, I guess if this is how you get your jollies, more power to you.

And you're right I used the wrong word/phrase...POS was bad choice...overpriced may be more what I meant...but either way, personal preference/choices are in effect here, so...I'll retract my comment on your car.

Off topic, but for those that want some real comic reading (ala LZH's posts), check out this guy's Amazon posts...who knows, maybe Gordon D. is really LZH, but under a different handle--my favorite is the Beatles Grafitti Artist Shirt :

Actually, with the 15K off MSRP (Factory/Dealer Incentives), it really was priced competitively...$55K OTD for this car is a good deal. Just ask the M3/CTS-V owners.

I drove the SLS in the AMG event in Vegas and boy is this car a monster. 0-60 times or any straight line times can't do this car justice. The car handled much better than it looks on paper. Maybe its gullwing structure had something to do w/ it? i don't know. But for 200k it's a bargain. Nothing really would come close in this price range, at least in the handling catagory.

BTW, I have one on order and my total, including 15% tax, is about 247k CAD.

Luke, at first glance I discounted the POS statement out of him but then I took a look at the cars listed in his sig and all the cars he has owned and realized this guy is a connisuer of *****, this guy is a ***** critic, he's like the Simon Cowel of automobiles, he knows ***** when he sees it. if anyone knows ***** its him, he's a self proclaimed ***** expert. This guy owned and Nissan Murano and a Nissan Altima....damn, if that does not make someone an expert I don't know what does. We need to see about getting this guy a job as a hot shoe testing for Motor Trend or something. I've decided after reading this thread I'm going to sell my POS tomorrow, but its such a POS I will probably have to give it away and even then I might not have any takers. The Black Series is such a POS Tony Kannan, Kurt Bush, Michael Andretti, Dale Ernhardt Jr, David Coultard, Valentino Rossi and Chip Ganassi are just a handful of pro racers that bought one. If I'm not mistaken 4 or 5 of those guys won championships but what do they know??????? Maybe those guys can get some driving lessons from the ***** expert himself.

Not referencing Miami1 specifically, but there are a lot of people in this forum for whom the C63 is the best car they've ever had. Prior to owning the C63, they'd never had much experience with relatively high-end cars. I wouldn't let them get under your skin too much because your points of reference are so very different, your backgrounds are also likely very different.

Best to just grin and bear it.

Nice, attacking my Nissans...sorry I am just a humble serviceman...we don't make the money to fill garages like you do. Also, for me, family comes first...hence some of the family-mobiles...but I digress.

BTW, Tony Kannan also drives an Acura RL too..."and you'd be amazed by the technology"....gonna dawg your hero, now?

Glad you feel the need to read off a resume of "experts" to prove that you didn't overpay at $140K when you could have scooped up an equally as impressive M6 for $30K less.

Anyway, the CLK63 is a nice car...and you're right...since I haven't owned a $140K car, I am not an expert (or perhaps I just know better ways to spend my money than on a car that stock-for-stock is mere inches ahead of its 1/3 priced younger brother).

The dealer is saying the allocation is in Aug/Sept. So maybe Oct/Nov? I ordered the Designo Alanite Grey Magno (Matte Grey) exterior, and interior is 2 tone black/red.

A friend of mine ordered the Alumbeam Silver (15k option!) and his is said to arrive June...

Sweet, man...congrats. Can't wait to see pics/hear your take. I'm sure you'll love it! What will you do with it during the winter?
