Quote: Here is a good one...one console went to Canada and they cleared it through customs in 4 hours!

Ha Ha....your customs description in Ceska Posta must have confused them. I don't think they knew what it was, how much it was worth or if a gift or other. I mean it arrived in the original MB Parts box. They did not charge their usual small fee for brokerage (usually $7-$10), duties (probably zero anyway but maybe not coming from Europe) or sale tax (HST = 13%).

Gotta love Canada Post sometimes, delivered no extra charges!

Never get shipping by UPS or Fedex into Canada if you can avoid it. It will almost always cost a lot more in the end.

You can thank my wife for that. She filled out all the customs declaration forms for you guys so if it cleared with no duties/fees etc, then she is the star of the shipping part of this.

No problem at all. Looks like everyone has got their console except for 1 who was not at home for delivery and another delivered yet. To those guys who don't have their consoles yet, please let me know when you do get them so I know that they have all been delivered.

Thanks,

Dave

I'm not very bright -- just figured out that package waiting at the PO for 3days is the console! Unfortunately I figured this out on a Sunday... smack head icon.

I installed it. That wire is a PITA, you definitely need to pull out the carpet to the left of the shifter and if you shine light in there you can see my gray wire was 1st held by some felt tape, then there was the metal clip that you need to pull the end towards the ground and slide the wire out. From there it is cake. Also, pulling out the rear seat AC vent was intense. I thought I was going to break it, all took about an 1hr taking my time and reassembly.

I'll probably get a rubber mat for the bottom of the storage. Not sure about cupholders yet

To all those of you have asked, I have my guy looking for PN# and/or cost of rubber mat/bottom for console. Seems our friends at MBZ like to make parts like this as hard as possible to find. Will send update ASAP

Guys, I have a lead on supplier of CF top for the Euro console for those of you who have Euro consoles and CF interiors. As in previous post MACarbon sells a complete CF top'd Euro console at $650 but that simply too expensive for me. The console in the pic of course is reverse of our consoles as, you guessed it, it comes from Hong Kong. Would be for LHD. Still early days on this as far as pricing, delivery time etc, but let me know if any of you are interested in CF top as per pic.

Still no word on rubber bottom to drink compartment. Request has now gone to MBZ HQ for response on PN# and price since it is not in parts catalogue. Will keep you updated.

Part number for the little rubber mat that takes the place of the ashtray is A 204 683 05 94 and the part number for the rubber mat that goes at the bottom of the drinkholder area is A 204 683 02 94. Just got back from the dealer and visually confirmed this. I actually sat in a 2010 E63 and pulled the cupholder out, flipped over the rubber mat and took the part number directly off of the part. However, as Dave says, the drinkholder mat part number isn't even in MBUSA's parts system so the dealer is having to check into it and get back with me. Bottom line, the part we need is off a 2010 E63, and a sample VIN for a car with the correct part is WDDHF7HBXAA118798. Hope this helps.

Hey Dave,

The rubber mat is called a "truss" - it is #170 on the attached diagram. Part number A 204 683 02 94 (left-hand drive). This part should be readily available in USA as it is standard in the 2010+ E63.

Cheers,

- Ryan

Even the dealer agrees it should be readily available. The problem is that when they punch that part number into the master inquiry it comes back as not really in existence. "Not on master" or something similar shows up. No price, no nothing. It'll be solved soon, but isn't quite yet.
