Differences in US spec/Euro-World spec
Guys, I have been doing some comparison between specs and options on the Euro version of the car and the US Spec. Of course stock power is 451 (US) vs 457 (Euro) but whos counting. There has been lots of discussion on several options on the boards but here are some of the differences that peaked my interest:
1. AMG illuminated sills - not available as option on car from US site but I have installed them on my car here in Europe at MBZ dealership. No issues at all and the sills were in their C63 parts catalogue
2. Center console - see other thread - some like the Euro version, some don't.
3. Airboxes - also in other threads, but what I have seen the airboxes in Euro version seem to provide more free flow. There is seems some sort of restrictor plate on US versions. Also gets rid of charcoal filters as well.
4. Dash/instrument panel - the Euro version seems to provide a Race mode which allows for lap timing etc. I have not seen this on my car - it maybe available there but I have not seen or found it. Is it on US spec car?
6. Command - I had my system changed to Euro in Eng mode. No new hardware. Allowed for real time traffic, video on move amongst other things. Several other options there as well I have not fiddled with, but it seems the base Euro Command provides more useful features.
Lastly, when I took my car in for its regular service they gave me a little gift. MBZ here takes down VIN# to monitor service records and about 2 weeks after the regular service the dealership called to say a package had arrived for me at the dealership. When I went in I was surprised to find that AMG had sent me a indoor AMG cover for my car as a "welcome" gift to the AMG family - some form letter to this affect in Czech. Very nice little gift in my opinion. Sure got zip when I bought the car in the US.
Anyway, would be interested in other specs/features that you know about between US vs. Euro/World specs.

Hey Alice White - keep this crap off our boards! I have noticed you put this on multiple threads. Post this sort of thing in forum for "Classified - Misc" or simply stop with this sort of thing! If you want to sell your "knock-off" crap do it elsewhere!

Ok, but make sure you have the right DVD to load Euro maps if you are going to do this. There are other regions you can choose as well. You can get the DVD maps in correct format off ebay. It will take 1.5 hours to load maps and the other features. Never, and I repeat never hit the "update" option - this will hang your system and you will be screwed. This will require you to take it into MBZ for reboot and they will know you have been playing in Emg mode. A no-no according to them.

Please remember that on the coversion chart 1hp= 1.01386977 ps. So 451 hp is 457.255 ps (metric conversion). The U.S. spec has the same power rating as the Euro spec.
One thing that I did notice which I believe is an important difference is I guess the euro spec has a seperate differetial cooler (bolt on?) due to the higher rate of driving speeds in Europe.

Amber sidemarkers
Availability of 19" wheels (will be coming to NA for MY11)
Availability of designo leather dashboard
Amber rear turn signals
Things like parking sensors, power folding mirrors, KEYLESS GO etc, are generally MBUSA decisions - they choose to not offer such features to maintain a pricepoint/reduce variants.

Race timer is in the AMG section.. Scroll through till you see AMG in the cluster.. There it will show oil, and water temps. Now scroll up, and you'll see the gear your in, trans mode, ESP. Scroll up again, and that's the lap timer..

Also wanted the Designo leather, but have to make my own appointment with AMG to get the Designo installed at a cost over 3200 Euros. The Desgino install is supposed to take approx 10 days, delaying my drive it home date.
MBUSA should get ou of the way for mods which aren't safety or emission related. Let customers decide what they can or cannot afford. If MBZ produces it and its sitting in stock storage, let the car get built to customer preferences. Isn't that what options are all about?

EC C63 - what you were told is simply not true. This is a game MBZ plays to get you to change your mind or pay for new headunit. As in this thread, go into Eng mode of Command and you can change the region from US to Europe. You can buy the DVD at MBZ or on eBay. Once you have changed region, simply put in DVD and it will ask if you want to upload. Press yes. This typically will take 1-2 hours to load all the maps and other features. Once the upload is done, simply exit Eng mode and extract DVD. Turn command off and it will restart with Euro maps etc. I did this with my US spec car and it has worked perfectly.

bhamg - are you switching from Euro to US for GPS? If so you don't need to take anywhere as you can do this yourself. Just order the Euro maps at MBZ or off eBay and follow instructions on the forums. Very easy to do. If you simply want to access Eng mode you can do this anytime and look at some of the options you can add/change within Command. Just do search on this topic and there is plenty of info there.
