Winter versus Summer Tires

I never realized how harsh winter tires were. I had Dunlop WinterSport 3ds on all winter and not until recently did I find it annoying. Maybe bc of the more aggressive driving with the nicer weather waiting for the potholes to be filled.

Last week I went from the 18" Dunlops back to 19" Toyo T1R's and its so smooth now. I guess thats what they mean by soft tires.

It was so bad that some of you may recall my passenger seat had a rattle on bumps - tire change and voila, the rattle is gone!

I have the same winter tires and I have been annoyed with the noise for some time, waiting for my wheels to come in so I can order some 19" tires.Still debating on those and think I will go with the Conti's Extreme Contact DW either summer tires or all season.Do you think noise will be a factor on the All Season tires?

Sound is reduced, but is definitely still there. I used those tires briefly on my CL and despite the well sealed interior of my CL, the sound was just enough to bother me.

coming from the winters you'll notice significantly less noise obviously...not sure about those tires, but the Toyo T1r summers are quiet/soft enough for me and reasonably priced for what im looking for.

Is that your first set, how much do you expect to get out of them?

We have the same road conditions here in Montreal, and the weather is still a little cold, our potholes have sucked in cars there so big....size of craters some, we have road crews patch them up and they come right back.

Im an exception to the C63 Tire rule...i drive aggressively only on the highways and never do burnouts

i fully expect 10k miles out of the toyos at the least....i have 4500 miles on them so far and theyre still mint

i put 3k on the winters and they are like brand new too...

put 1100 on the stock pirellis and sold them like new - just ask W204 C63, they were mint

Please note that the all season tires were considerably less noisy than winter tires, but for me, I could still hear the road noise. I ended up going with summer conti's on the CL and PS2 for the E.
