pics of vaeth 2 stage exhaust install

Firstly, Here is a link to my first post on the exhaust:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...e-exhaust.html

For those interested in this mod here is some detail on the install and pics. i don't want to steal Ramspeed's thunder on the exhaust vids for which they used what looked like a good quality video camera so will wait for them to produce them and then will post. Meanwhile here are some pics of the gear etc

1) First off here is the piece removed from the stock car (from left and right sides obviously). I already had high flow cats so did not have them installed:

2) Here is the compressed air vessel and associated gear that actuates the butterfly valves in the exhaust. They are located in the hidden pocket of the boot behind the first aid kit. The air vessel is 'recharged' so to speak every time the ignition is started so completely 'fire and forget'.

3) This is that same compartment all closed up, would never know gear was there and first aid kit still fits neat inside as in stock car

4) Here is the radio relay gear and antenna to receive the signal from keyring remote. Its located in the same style hidden comartment as the first aid kit but directly opposite on the other side of the boot. Again all fits neat and would never know it was there.

5) Here is the left side butterfly exhaust valve. It is located upstream of the new vaeth mufflers. It is activated by the key ring remote. 2 quick clicks of the remote button to open it and another 2 to close. Pretty much instantaneous open and closing in response to clicking buttons

6) These are the exhaust tips, beautifully chromed and engraved with Vaeth insignia. The internal pipe work is a full inch wider than the stock exhaust piping.

7) Here is a better view of the butterfly valves showing left and right side. They are tucked up as high as possible and ground clearance is not an issue. Travelling behind the car they cannot be seen. The valves are shown closed

8) Here is snap of the valve open. When in open mode i believe 20% of exhaust flow is directed out of the valve and rest through new Vaeth mufflers.

9) These are the key ring remotes, nice and small

Very cool. It's basically an exhaust cutout right before the muffler.

Can you program your Homelink buttons in the mirror for open and close?

Nice post and pics.

Waiting on the sound clips.

Will this help performance much? In the 1/4 or top end?

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Based on the other thread with cargraphics exhaust and bypass valves, I cannot imagine how much your wallet got depleted for this kind of setup.
A US vendor wants $10K USD for the full set of cargraphics. yikes...

Slightly .

emericr, if you just want bypass valves, check out QTP electric cutouts. You can get a set of 2.5" for ~$400. -> http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/index.php

Vaeth is german supplier as well as cargraphics so not really off topic.
Anyway, thanks for the link.
My question is off topic: I thought our OEM pipes were 2 3/4 inches and the site does not sell that size, either 3 or 2.5? So do you have to buy the 3 inch one and get your installer to pipe it down or am I incorrect in stating that our pipes are 2.75??
I am really liking the price of QTP. Install could not be more than a few hundred $$.
I would think there is a power gain especially if you replace the secondary cats with those cutouts.
Feedback on anyone who have done this? It does not have to be on a C63. Any documented power gains or losses?
OP: I apologize for the out of topic question.
You have an awesome setup but your wallet is thicker than mine

I was referring to my own "Off Topic" post.

Stock pipes are 2.5".
