its fine - thats just cosmetic

same thing happened to me when i ran over a falling rock on the highway - i happened to be swapping out my 19's and the tire shop confirmed its fine -

wats ironic is the fact that that piece is supposed to protect your rim - useless on a low tire

No matter how much to take care of your wheels
it always happens. I see new nicks every time i wash the wheels..

that sucks--we've all been there done that.
I think every car I've had got some rash at one time or another.
I actually had a similar scrape on my CLK rim and tire from a granite curb, I had a couple in me that night
I just carefully removed the rubber and soon forgot about it.
You'll be fine, unless you need tires soon, I'd just forget about it.

Thanks all. It is one of the fronts so I hope to keep it another 5000 miles.

The rears on the other hand are closing in on the wear bars so they will have to go soon. Debating the Dunlop Star Spec's after reading the recent reviews but I'm having trouble locating them in Poland.

Anyways - back to my wounded ego :-)

You should be good to go, just be extra careful. The rim could be easily fixed, just get a new tire later on down the line.

Damage on the side wall of a tire is nothing to joke about. What do you think the centrifugal force will do to that piece of rubber at speed? Just buy a new tire and have peace of mind at ANY speed. Not worth the risk.......

You can have that repaired. I know a couple of companies that can do it, send me a PM if you need the info.

Cut or glue that rubber back down. Rubber to rubber adhesive.

My Pzero had the same thing. Very small rash compared to yours though. I cut the piece off. Done. If its the rear tire you will be changing it soon anyway.

you MB dealer will probably know of a mobil tech that can fix that wheel. i had that happen on a G35 i owned and the local MB dealer set me up with the guy they use to fix wheels on trade ins. he came to my house in a small van and fixed it for maybe 200 bucks or could have been less but i remember i was amazed with how it looked and i thought the price was fair.
