WTF, my throttle died on the highway!

I don't think this have anything to do with any tune. The first day i bought my car it happened to me...I took it to the dealership the next morning and it was ready at the afternoon and it never happened again..They said something to do with Esp system i don't remember exactly it was last august...I have K2 and it never happened.

If this is NOT indeed caused by a tune...
class action lawsuit anyone? It has happened to too many people and we are just the vocal few. What about the people not aware of this forum their count should be in the hundreds.
This defect on a car can potentially kill the passengers of the car. I'm sure you have lawyer friends. What are our options? I did not buy a $65K+ only to get rear ended in the freeway because my throttle died.
Seems like its a problem isolated to the 2009 Make. Anyone else with this problem with a non 2009 c63 AMG?

Maybe this was influenced by Toyota as a safety precaution, but MB was trying so hard to prevent mistakes made by Toyota, that they outdid themselves. Perhaps the computer thinks it's accelerating independently and forces itself to lose power?!
Jokes, no pun intended. Very scary indeed, and you were fortunate that you were able to pull off to the side safely. When I first discovered the other thread, my first notion was a faulty tune. It could very well be a stock issue (hopefully not), but all fingers point to the ECU until we hear otherwise. I'm sure someone has a valid explanation...
Good luck!

does this only happened to US spec cars? i never heard this issue in other countries, at least not in Australia.
maybe a little difference between North American spec and Euro spec?

Many of us had sensors fail (mine went at 60 miles on the ODO, brand new) but we didn't have the throttle become non-responsive and Traction control light up/become inoperative. When the crank sensor fails you get either a yellow or red check engine light. Some cars are completely drivable (mine was) and some are not.
I think this throttle issue is different....

I had this same problem in my ML63. At the time i had a powerchip tune and was racing an M3 from a set of lights onto an open curving road and absolutely floored the car while in manual mode. All of a sudden i lost power and the ESP lights and ABS light came on and the car would not rev over 1500rpm or exceed about 30 kmh. M3 driver similarly blew past me shaking his head. Car went into what is called limp mode and needed to be turned off and restarted. Has since gone in for 20000km service and no error message or other ecu issue came up, at least wasnt reported to me. i was scared to drive it that hard again until recently. Been driving quite aggresively on exactly same road and conditions. Only change is now i have Vath tune vs powerchip, but have no idea if that is relevant.

I better keep it as it is for the ECU, but get a set of exhaust instead.

I know, im just pointing out a possible cause of the "limp mode". It can be the ecu but from what ive heard it can be the crankshaft sensor too. Im not trying to mix anything up, just an opinion to a possible cause.

I hope so...funny thing is everyone...and I mean every one says "if MB really wanted to limit the car during the first 1K miles they would program something into the ECU."
Apparently they did. However they should do it so that you still have at least partial power.

My salesman after selling the car. Personally came up to me while i was about to drive off and told me to follow the break in procedure. Not as a salesman, but it def seemed more of a genuine "follow the break in" as a friend.

No such thing as mileage based tq limiters in the ECU, more than a few owners have had their C63s or 63s tuned in the first 500 miles and driven the cars harder than has been posted by those experiencing the issue. Looks like 2 of 3 cases are tied back to Eurocharge tuning. Has this ever happened to a 100% stock car?

Is this the same issue as posted here? https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...what-hell.html
I'm meeting with Dr. Jitsu today and we are going to see if he has any load limiter codes stored.
I'm going to research this the best that I can and find a cure for the problem. I need to know if this has happened to anyone with a stock car as well? I see that it has happened in the other thread with other tunes (I thought I saw 2 other tuners mentioned).
I'll be back after our meet today and we'll post the results of the scan.
